Nokia N70 - uploading music to memory card question
RPM

I've got a 1gb memory card for my Nokia N70 which I am trying to fill with music (via the USB port on my laptop) but, now that the card is more than half full, it's taking forever to load new music.

It now takes over an hour for the music which is already on the phone to show up on my laptop before I can begin to transfer. The Nokia PC Suite keeps crashing too which only adds to the frustration.

Is this typical of the phone or have I been sold a duffer?

Any help would be much appreciated.

I've also got the N70 and had quite a few problems with the Nokia PC Suite software, namely it's slow and often crashed other software running on my PC. I just uninstalled it and now use other methods to transfer files to and from my phone.

For transferring smaller files (e.g. around 5Mb or less - images and mp3's) a Bluetooth dongle works great. One you have it installed it's much easier to use then PC Suite - you can just right click on an mp3 (or any file) then use the "Send to" option to wirelessly send it to your phone.

For transferring large files I'd recommend a card reader that can handle the MMC Mobile card that the N70 uses. I usually encode mp4 videos of TV shows I've recorded to view on the N70 and these files come out around 100Mb each. Unfortunately it would take forever to transfer via Bluetooth, but a card reader does the job really quick.

So if you’re still having problems, ditch PC Suite and use a Bluetooth Dongle (for a smaller files) or a Card Reader (for larger files) instead.

Thanks for this. I've just ordered a bluetooth dongle.

Cheers!
