About to upgrade my Thomson HDD from 80gb (160gb actual size) to 250gb

I am just about to upgrade my HDD from the current preinstalled 80gb size (actual size is 160gb but Sky reserve 80gb for their own future use) to a 250gb HDD.

I am buying from a seller on Ebay, and once I have further details of the make/model of the HDD and the price (as well as pics of the process etc) I will let you all know more.

Are you upgrading a Sky+160?

If so, and I am not trying to be smart, but thats the worst way to get a 250gb hard drive, all the kits are for the Pacev2, there are companies who sell the kits, be wary of ebay, why don't you sell the 160 buy a pacev2 box and save yourself money.

I assume he means a PVR3. Has no one upgraded one of these yet?

Hi

The Pvr3 has 80 gb for personal use plus 80 gb reserved for future Sky use = 160 gb hard drive

The Sky 160 has a Hd of 160 gb all of which is usuable by the owner and none is reserved for Sky

The op therefore has a PVR3

Ok everyone...

I have installed the upgrade for my PVR3 Thomson box.

As previously mentioned - it was a 160gb drive, where 80gb is saved for Sky's personal future use and the other 80gb is accessable for our own personal recording.

I have upgraded the box to a 250gb drive so that I get 170gb personal usage.

It wasnt that hard to do, and I have prepared an instruction sheet (with pictures) for anyone who is needing a guide or a hand with doing theirs.
I am not sure where or how to put this on here, so feel free to contact me to get a copy of these instructions.

Likewise, if you know a way of me putting the instructions online and you think it would be useful to do so, let me know how.
