After watching Eastenders on friday i am really annoyed with the press.

When Danny held the gun to Grant's head and we heard the gunshot it would have been great to think Grant was dead - but instead we knew Jake had shot Danny.

I saw this is several TV guides, with pic of Jake crying on Danny's body and it also revealed Johnny confessed and got sent down...

Wouldn't it have been more exciteing not knowing.

And why do the BBC gives spoilers when people know what happens they wont tune in

I agree- all soaps do it. It would have been nice not to know Jake shot Danny. After all the week was about the Mitchells v Johnny so the press office didn't have to release that fact.

I actually like reading spoilers.

One thing that spoilt something for me was years ago on the last night of Prisoner Cell Block H it was on the news saying it was the last episode and they showed a few seconds of the last scene. Rita was in it. If you saw the episode you would have seen the twist at the end. Central News spoilt that. Did anyone remember that?

Tis the shaded S in the toolbar.

Yep, spoilers are annoying, but sometimes you would get worked up and then let down if things were realy hyped up but not said.

i used to love reading spoilers and would be on DS and loads of other websites trying to find out exactly what happened and by the time it was the actual episode id practically know the script, but then about a month ago i decided to stop reading them. I still read the big spoilers that are more news articles than spoilers (like when theres gonna be a big stoyline) but any others. Its only just started to actually pay off though coz because the spoilers go so far ahead i still knew what was gonna happen for like the next month. I'm not sure if it actually makes watching it that much better though - especially coz of all the magazine covers so however hard you try to avoid reading the spoilers you still end up finding out about them anyway. I dont go on DS much anymore either coz i cant look at the spoilers and i cant read loads of the threads.
The reason i stopped reading them in the first place was because i thought it would be more exciting watching them not knowing what was goin to happen but i dont think it does. I've only just started watching hollyoaks so because im not used to reading the spoilers for that i think i'll carry on watching that without reading spoilers - especially coz its easier to avoid them anyway. And i've never read the footballers wives or the bill spoilers but again thats probably because theyre easier to avoid and footballers wives definately wouldnt be as good knowing what was going to happen. But i think im probably going to start reading the corrie and ee ones again, mainly because i enjoy reading them and it didnt seem to be any better not knowing what was going to happen anyway. Also i love talking about whats gonna hapen in them and finding out whats gonna happen. Another ting is that sometimes it actually seems better watching it knowing whats gonna happen because you realise that things are leading up to it that you might not have noticed otherwise and it means you look forward to particular episodes and scenes.
Okay sorry if i bored you to death!

True, it's nice to have surprises, but I do like knowing in advance what's going to happen - some kind of superior knowledge thing maybe! Also, I have a 'soap spoilers' feature on my radio show, so I can't avoid finding out!!

It's impossible to not read or hear the soap spoilers as they are everywhere!

It is fantastic when you see something though and you don't know what is going to happen.

Years ago in Eastenders I didn't know that Debbie (Nigel's wife) was going to die in a hit and run accident and it was such a shock. The story was done really well and I just know it wouldn't have been half as good if I had known the outcome. It was just like it would have been in real life - a complete shock.

Also, I didn't know that Alfie was going to come back for Cat last Christmas and that was really good.

I think that the ratings would go up massively if they stopped all the spoilers.

I was going to watch Eastenders with the "funfair disastor" but didn't watch it in the end because my TV Quick revealed everything a week before about it - including that Lynne would lose the baby and then have to have a hysterectomy too. No point in watching in IMHO!

They are difficult to avoid. People post them in thread titles on here for instance.

I do agree to some extent. I do read spoilers and wish I did'nt but can't help not knowing, at most it spoils the impact of the storyline making it less dramatic.

The only spoilers I now habitually read are those for Home and Away as the Saturday omnibus has been taken off, and by the time I reach home from work during the week I just about manage to catch the last five minutes of it.

I avoid spoilers as much as I can, but it is sometimes difficult, they are so 'in your face.'

I think the release of spoilers is a huge factor in the problems Eastenders has been having over the last couple of years. If they kept the 'lid on', it would make the programme more exciting.
