thanks for the link, and excuse the ignorance but does that mean if I leave the sky box set to BBC1 (the only way I can receive BBC1) then the tv will accept the updates?

ah, now I see. Our DTT service is still being trialled so I'm not sure what the story is with updates etc.
I (very stupidly) assumed from some of the posts that the updates were like firmware upgrades for the tv itself. Thanks for clearing that up though

so there's no way of getting these updates without having UK freeview then? That's a pity.

It works great as I have different picture settings for Sky source, DTV source, DVD source and PC source How do I do it? As I have mentioned earlier if I am in DTV and play with my settings then these are then reflected on my Sky (Ext1). |

You don’t need to do anything. A notice automatically pops up on screen when an update is ready, inviting you to download it. Since I bought my 26-inch R74 in October (from PRC Direct - the best price I could find anywhere) there have been two software updates from Crystal Palace. The first, in December, had no noticeable effect on my set but the one this week (early January) has made channel-changing much faster and also, I think, subtly improved the picture. They may have tweaked the gamma curve, which I alluded to as a problem in an earlier post, although I still find whites too burnt out even on the Movie setting. Judging from earlier posts on this forum, it seems that Ireland may get different updates from other parts of the UK. Perhaps the downloads also depend on which set you have (ideas, anyone?). The number of this latest software upgrade is T_BORDDUK0_1015. The old version was T_BORDDUK0_1010. You can find which number you have by pressing D.Menu on the handset then stepping down to the bottom option, called System, and then choosing Software Upgrade. The Software Upgrade screen also gives you the option to return to the previous version of the software if the upgrade causes problems. However, one does have to question why Samsung was selling sets with such an obvious flaw in the channel-changing. Ian Last edited by IanRid : 04-01-2007 at 21:33. |

Hi, my le26r74bdx has software T_BORDDUKO_1005, I only brought it at Comet on Saturday. The screen says no upgrade available.
How do I get the 1015 upgrade? |

How do I get the 1015 upgrade? Do you find that the channel-changing on your set gets stuck? Ian |

Do you find that the channel-changing on your set gets stuck? Ian Regarding channel changing, with the supplied remote it is very slow, but doesn't get stuck. I have an old Vivanco remote which works with the LE26,that is almost instantanious! |

The only real issue with channel changing pre T_BORDDUK0_1015 s/w version is when you change channels multiple time as in 'flicking'.

anyone noticed a white tinged zone about 2/3s across the screen, obviously most noticable when the screen is black / dark scenes. it is about 1/4 the width of the screem 2/3 accross.

I'm still stuck on the whole Audio input for a computer connected to the VGA port.
Is it possible to hook your laptop up by VGA and then connect the sound to the T.V via this cable: http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/st...jpg&imageText= How do i tell the television to use this input as it's main audio while i have the computer connected? Thanks |

You need a cable with a 3.5mm jack plug at both ends and plug one end into the socket next to the VGA socket on the TV and plug the other into your sound card. And that's it, each video input has it's only audio input socket so it's just a matter of plugging it into the right one.
If you want to use that sort of cable you need to get an adapter to convert two phono into a jack plug, but you'd probably be better of just getting the correct cable in the first place. |

Skin tone to "Yellowish" in the service menu is a good change.. the European models are all set to Reddish, but it makes peoples skin look pink and pig like.... Study people you see around you and your skin and you usually find that the predominant colour is a yellow and tan, not red
Even so, I will still buy a Panasonic next time! Ian |

HDMI connection to pc on LE40R73BD
I found the answer on these forums to this so only thought it fair to return the favour. HDMI connection to pc can be made - depsite what the manual says.
I have an ATI Radeon x1550 card which can emulate HDTV mode. With this set to 1776 x 1000 you can get as near as (1920 x 1080 appears too big for screen?). As commented before you do not get exact 1:1 pixel match but by increasing your font DPI and adjusting your icon spacing I found this perfectly acceptable. This is particularly good for 1 megapixel plus images and HD content onscreen. Have fun
