What A Difference A Year Makes
Kevo

This time last year abaout the only R2 DVD worth getting was The Matrix. But how things have changed in a year.

We are seeing more new films being released simultaneously with their VHS counterparts (Gladiator, Fight Club, Chicken Run etc).

More back catalogue films being released simultaneously with their R1 counterparts (Again Gladiator, Jaws, Jurrasic etc).

More anamorphic films.

DVD Rentals.

DTS making a very welcome appearance (Again Gladiator).

More music and T.V. programmes being released.

At last the R2 market is slowly catching up with the R1 market, but there is still a long way to go as far as the back catalogue is concerned.

Hopefully, this time next year 'things can only get better', and I predict in about 18 months you will practically be able to get anything on DVD that you can on VHS (Star Wars, Indy, blueys and all!!).

R2 is still another planet away from being on level terms with R1, the discs that got the similtaneous release dates over here were in some (minor)way inferior..missing a commentary or whatever!

I'll stick to good old R1!

Star Wars 18 months...yeah right, Lucas will be falling over with laughter reading that!
