Blue Heelers is an Aussie cop show which lasted 510 hour long episodes shown regionally on some ITV regions. Made between 1993 and 2005 the show is airing the last few episodes Down Under.

The ITV regions dropped it a number of years ago now. I loved it and have bought the first three years of it at

www.dvdcrave.com.au

It sells for about £22 per half year (22 episodes worth) which is not too bad. You'll need a multi region DVD player for it though.

I have just seen the first twelve or so episodes. Not bad for 1993 Aussie drama!!

Ahhh, I used to be forced to watch that program everytime it was on when I was younger. I can't remember anything from it, but I think I liked it

All the good old shows that were on in the mid afternoons started dwindling and disappearing once the ITV franchises changed and Carlton and Granada went on their Franchise Sale shopping spree. We lost those curl up on the sofa and watch things and had them replaced with morons on Jerry Springer style chat shows who want to shout at each other and other such mind numbingly boring and cheap excuses for entertainmnt.

I know none of these shows such as Young Doctors , Country Practice, Richmond Hill , High Road , Blue Heelers etc were especially high brow , but they all had a decent , friendly want to watch quailty about them which is sadly lacking in the old tripe ITV serve up to us now.

The show got the axe in Australia as well after 12 years due to low ratings which is quite said as I saw a couple of episodes years back and it looks like a good show.

I used to love All Saints on Living TV, but they axed it and put on six hours of Charmed instead!

Blue Heelers was excellent. Followed it on Carlton Select for a few years. Have waited for ages for someone to pick this up. Will definately check out DVDs.

Never realised Living Tv showed All Saints -surely one UK station could show Blue Heelers again. Stingers is another example of a good OZ show shown on Granada PLus -anyway cant wait for the LIVE episode of Blue Heelers -it was LIVE in Oz if you catch my drift!

Blue Heelers was good, then went through a few bad years in Oz, then they trod the well worn path of 'sexing up' and 'actioning up' the show a couple of years back. (In other words killing off a few characters and changing the personality of the remainder)

Ratings rose in Oz, but this still didn't prevent the Axes from falling.

I have been watching this show quite a bit lately. Lots of Prisoner actresses and actors popping up. I am just at the end of the 1994 episodes.

Carlton, Granada, Border, Central definitely had it. YTV and TTTV definitely did not. The others I have no idea about.

The programme was made in hour long episodes and revolved around a differerent story each week. All the regions showed it properly in the one hour formatalthough Carlton initially chopped the episodes into two halves and screened it at 2.50pm Mon, Tues and Wed. Stupidly Carlton ruined some of the stories because every two weeks the WED episodes would be split between Wed and the folloing MON. In all other regions, Australia, NZ, Ireland etc the story of that episode was dealt with within the hour, Carlton viewers had probably forgotten what had happened to the guest characters on Wed by the time that the Mon part 2 episode was shown. This stupidity lasted about a year, they took it off and then brought it back for one hour episodes Mondays at 2.20pm around 1997.

In 1997 Carlton being Carlton then used the Fri 2.20pm slot to show Shortland Street and this time they did the opposite. They clumsily stuck two episodes together into the one hour slot!!

ok it's on late 1.10am aprox. but RTE1 has had Blue Heelers on every week except for last 7/7/05 as they had to drop Third Watch because of London terror attacks I believe and dropped Blue Heelers to put on a film.
Why cant Sky One show it for example - I honestly think the UK tv executives would rather buy any US crap than more OZ tv other than Home and Away and Neighbours-some conspiracy is going on!

Blue Heelers is fantastic. Better than Emmerdale and Coronation Street which are on nearly EVERY NIGHT!!

I will be watching Episode 55 next. Although I didn't like her at first, I have started to like Lisa McCune as Maggie.

Yes Maggie is good -man you are way behind -not a bad thing but those dvd's will cost you a fortune - I just realised the LIVE episode was on weeks ago -think I remember it -the next few episodes 440,441 etc sound action packed.

They are releasing a years worth every two months but it takes me 6 months to see the years worth.

I am buying them when they are on sale (months later). It works out at about 70p per episode which is about £1.40 or just over £2 a week if I watch 2 or 3 eps.

They are good and I am enjoying them so I think I am getting my money's worth!! Better than getting ripped off for some 90minute US movie!!

Yes I guess when you look at it that way it's good value.
For its final season, Blue Heelers was moved to the lower-rated Saturday night timeslot, which also saw it up against popular police program The Bill. This move was slammed by cast member John Wood and I totally agree a very bad move!

Yes, Channel 7 quietly disposing of it in an unwinnable slot.

When I have watched them all they may even be worth something if one of the major stars makes it REALLY BIG!!

I don't like PJ and it appears he's in for years!! My favourite Wayne Patterson is the first to go (or die)

I'll watch another on Tues I think.

Did you ever see the female detective Rose Egan?? She has been in the last 10 or so. On a telporary transfer from St Davids.

I liked the story featuring Maggie and a St Davids detective Sean .......... who was a gambler and was transferred to Melbourne after the others wrongly thought he was corrupt.

Adam has just been told he is not HIV+ in my recent episodes.
