Starting a new job in 2 weeks and have decided to spend my first wage for the month on a decent tv, seen some 32" high def lcd screens today for £800 - £1000 which look ok, but having seen the Sagem 56" DLP projection screens I been looking at DLP sets for around £ 1000........any thoughts on which to go for, as DLP seems excellent quality and much bigger screen sizes, gonna be playin X box 360 in high def so want a good BIG picture, for around a grand............cheers

Give it to meeeeee! I'll spend it wisely on a TV!

The major thing to look out for is to make sure it's HDTV ready, but it would be harder to find one for a grand that isn't HDTV ready now I think.

If you're buying from Dixons or somewhere, ask for a demo, then buy off the internet if you like. And if you find a model you like, research the model number thoroughly before splashing out £1000 worth of hard earned cash!

I would not spend a grand on a new tv, can think of a million other things to spend it on.

Would not spend any money, till start new job and make sure it is secure, company could go belly up before you start in two weeks.

I would put the 1000 a way for retirement, cause the way pension are going you will need it.

i think going for a DLP you get more screen size for your money, but they are a lot bigger a give a dark picture unless you are watching straight on at the right height.

i nearly went for the Sony 50" 3LCD rear projection for £1399 untill i found a clearence 42" plasma which was too good to leave.

So out of 32" LCD or 50" DLP i would go with the DLP, but it depends where you would watch it from and if you have the room.

OH, and the bulbs in DLPs need changing but they should last you 30,000 hrs which at 10hrs viewing per day is about 8 years which is loads of time, most bulbs are £300 to replace
