Sorry if this has been mentioned in another thread, though with all the departures and breaks some of the cast of EastEnders recently, (and in the near future) are taking, will there be anybody left?
(alright, I know there will be some ppl left really, though there does seem to be many going (if only for a while))...

And yet another character axed from the soap. Roy Evans (Tony Caunter) is set to go in early 2003. Most likely he will be killed off, like 99% of the others leaving/left!

I was surprised by todays news. Haven't seen Roy or Pat except for the occasional scene recently.

While we seem to be focusing on who is going any news on who is arriving? Any New families?

Dunno - there's got to be some new characters though, to fill in the gaps of those leaving.
I believe Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan) is now back on set, after having time off, due to work exhaustion wasn't it?

Yer, It was because of all the emotional stress of the acting and the fact in real life her 'hollyoaks' boy friend cheated/dumped her.

I`m so mad at Louise B for getting rid of Roy. He may not have been a strong character compared to the Slaters or Fowlers or Beales but he was a good solid dependable character and I thought he was great.

Exactly. Surely they could have thought of sommit to keep him in the programme. A shame he's going I think.

Barbara Windsor, who plays Peggy Mitchell is another member of the cast leaving. She is off to get some 'much needed rest' next Summer, and should return in 2004.

Actually, I'm not too upset about that as Peggy is just plain irritating at the moment and there aren't any real storylines involving her and she's had so many new blokes and then failed relationships it's getting boring. It'll give them time to think up some decent storylines for her.

So, now we have on the EastEnders departed list...
Lisa, Mark, Jamie, Peggy, Roy, Tom, Trevor - plus Dot (on a 4 month break), Kat (supposedly being kicked out for 3 months like Elaine Lordan was last year) and well...any more for any more?!

Like I stated in my first post, Sharon and Pauline are set to leave, though Pauline just temporary.

I think more actors are leaving in the next few months (both temp and forever) than are staying!

I have had a vision of the storyline....

Christmas night in the Vic, everyone's having a rousing sing-song round the piano, except for Martin Fowler, who's off being a right royal eejit as per, when suddenly 10 masked arab men, claiming to be al-queda storm in, and hold everyone victim. Martin, hearing the commotion jumps into his car and speeds round the square to the vic, just in time to hit Jamie who's running away like a scared little girl. Hearing the screetch of breaks and the dull thud outside, the terrorists fear that its the FIB (on secondment to the Met Police) trying to break in to free the hostages, and decide to detonate their bomb, completly obliterating anyone who's not needed for next year... On a side note, the fire at the slaters that Tom dies in, is a candle that he is extingushing by blowing it out. Unfortunatly the extra pressure created by this vigorous exercies causes his brain tumor to explode, causing blood to leak out of his eyes, nose, mouth and ears - Dr Truman insists that it could of happened at any time, even whilst sitting on the can, but that doing an Elvis is too tacky for this East Landan Suburb...

I think it's good to keep the cast on the move. We wouldn't want a Ken Barlow scenario to develop. He's been living in a two up, two down house for 42 years. That wouldn't happen, especially when you consider he's been working as a college lecturer and a newspaper editor during that time. Even a roadsweeper would move on during that time.

In Eastenders, no one is sacred, and that makes it dynamic. Pauline is the longest serving actor in it and maybe she should move on.

Errr, soaps are make believe...he doesn't really live on Coronation street -he's an actor. If you want to get into that how many fires/accidents/murders etc. etc. etc.would happen down your average street?

The soaps wouldn't appeal to anyone if they were a true representation of life, they'd probably be very, very dull.

He's not being got rid of. Tony Caunter is retiring.
