Question
Hi, we've recently had a HDTV and my dad really wants to see what it can do HD wise! Is there anyway I can somehow download something off the net onto my laptop, and then plug the laptop into the TV in order to see the capabilities of HD? Sorry if this sounds like a silly idea - I was just wondering if this is possible or not. I have found some examples of HD media on the MS site, one trailer of Titanic, and some nature clip...so in theory, could i transfer these onto my laptop and then plug my laptop into the tv?

Yep, totally - just depends on a couple of things.
Firstly the processing power of your laptop, it takes a fair bit to run a HD clip smoothly and some old ones can't play them at all. Second thing is your connections. Quite a few HD TVs have D-Sub connections that use the same cable as a regular monitor, while a lot of graphics cards come with DVI connections too. So just check on that and you should be away. Saying that, it's not something I've tried yet (Our HD TV is on it's way...) so someone else might have a bit more detail. |
