Hi

I can not seem to find any reviews on here for the philips 3305, is it any good?

I bought an alba from Sansbury in December I have only used it 4 times and whilst I was out the other day my wife said it went bang, it was not even being used!

I contacted sainsbury and they sad they no longer stock it, their only other model is the 3305, is it any good?

I bought one last weekend from Currys, to replace an Alba that I'd had to return to Sainsburys...so far, I'm delighted with it!
Picture quality through RGB is gorgeous; bright, vivid, good colour, 'smooth', and yet pin-sharp! Sound quality is excellent too!
Recording quality seems OK, although I've only used the 4-hour mode to archive some stuff off my Thompson Freeview box; the picture here is a little 'soft', though no worse than VHS, but over this coming weekend, I have some shorter archiving to do, and so will see how good the one and two hour modes are!
Overall, based mainly on pre-recorded playback, I'm very happy

bought one of these on Saturday, timer recording failed first time of asking, machine switched on at correct time but didn't record!, just main screen telling me that a blank disc was in. Going back today for a refund. Should have read customer reviews on Amazon as this timer recordings appear hit and miss.

Buffy24, What problems have you had?

I am a bit unsure whether to keep it, as there are a few negative reviews about, but I am happy with it and not had any problems myself. I have still a day or two to take it back to Argos.

There are firmware updates on the philips website, to correct some bugs.
I have not had any problems with mine so far, but I updated the firmware straight away after buying it.

Philips DVDR3305 - firmware BT6_4

On a computer - download the file, unzip it and burn onto a blank CD-R.
Then put the CD into the machine and it will update the firmware.
Full instructions are in the pdf document. Mine orignally had version BT5_5, now is version BT6_4.

Quote:
