In the process of recording the Coast series on UKTV History this weekend (whole series is on over the next 2 days) and the channel has a weird screen format plus the gits are chopping 15 minutes out of every episode

It's not 4:3, WS more of a 5:3 but in a WS mode. Guessing you can't do anything about it as the prog. is presumably broadcast in this weird format. Have already recorded 1st two episodes off BBC2 where it is also rerunning but over the next 11 weeks and it is A> complete and B> in WS.

Righty pain in the bum as the series is excellent and a keeper IMO.

None of the UKTV channels(and many others) broadcast in proper widescreen.
So when a genuine 16:9 programme is broadcast they have to use the compromise 14:9 to fill most of the screen but lose as little from the sides as possible.
This deficiency is what devalues virtually all the repeats of recent programmes on the UK TV network

I'm rapidly learning the restrictions with UKTV from other thread. Shame really as the ads are less annoying and a lot of the programming on Doc and History is quite interesting.
