I am looking for a basic home phone system that will not interfere with my broadband and allow CLI to pass through.

Its only for one line with 4 (or more) extensions. The system should ideally have voicemail and reject anonymous calls as well call routing to a particular extention, ie ring ext1, no answer ring all others.

I was looking at a BT system a while back, but cannot seem to find it on the BT website, so any pointers welcomed.

Panasonic KX-T206 and a standard answerphone. eBay is your friend for the phone system. Not 100% sure on the CLI with the 206 though as it is an old, but reliable, system.

If you were wanting something a bit better then you may want look at the NEC XN120. This will do everything you want, with additional cards, but will cost quite a bit more than the 206.

There's also the Panasonic KX-TEA308 and KX-TES824 which are both new analogue systems with voicemail and CLI available as optional cards.

All a question of cost really, and whether you were going to give it a whirl on the DIY route or have someone install it.

And wrt to the system you probably saw on the BT site, wouldn't be a Ultimarte 106, now discontinued? If so, they were crap.

The system I use is a BT Revelation. It can pass through CLI to all system phones connected, can handle about 12 extensions I think (I only use 8), and the software on mine allows voicemail. It also allows group hunts as you've described, and you can set automatic day and night modes as well if you wish.

As for ACR, you won't find many systems that automatically do this - you would be looking at the Meridian system at least to do this and creating a rule that said something like 'If CLI=NO then divert to extension x' and x would be a pre-recorded message by you. In other words you're talking thousands of pounds.

So you don't know then.

BT offer a service that declines all calls from witheld numbers, cheaper than thousands.

Stop trolling and read the OP's post. He was looking for a PHONE SYSTEM that does it, not a network facility. Patronising doesn't become you trust me.

If the OP knew what he wanted he wouldn't be here asking what he wants would he. I know he mentioned a phone system and also the anonymous call regject feature but I can't see where it says he has to have the phone system do it and that he has loads of money to throw at the job (which I doubt he does, so the BT service will be fine). Rejection is rejection whoever does it.

You've missed the point by miles. The OP is trying to get something that's all singing, all dancing for a minimal cost as possible. It appears the OP wanted to get something that would be a one-off cost instead of a monthly rental.

This is all by the by though, the real issue is someone coming onto the board, being established less than a month, then deciding it's clever and big to belittle existing FM's. If you wanted to point out the monthly ACR service you could have done in a far more polite way.

You could use a Sipura / LinkSys SPA 3000 this includes a port for your incoming PSTN line, you could use LinkSys PAP2 devices for other extensions, as it's Asterisk@Home you could also add numerous incoming numbers/lines using VoIP too. With this system you have voicemail, you can reject anonymous calls and various other tricks depending on incoming CLI.

The switchboard would be for home use only, so dont need or cany justify spending thousands. I am a completed noob where switchboards are concerned and I do not know where to start looking.
I am only using it with one line at the moment with the possibility of a second line, I will need around 4 extentions, but may need a few more in the future.
Cost is an issue and will want to have a go at a self install so I can hide wiring in walls etc and make it neat how I want it.
The caller reject thing was a possible feature I had read on some sites I have visited, but is not on the top of the want list, however some sort of ring order is. So I can have phones upstairs not ring when people are asleep, but I am still working downstairs etc.

In that case then, A Panasonic KX-T206 would be maybe a bit too tight on expansion as it only does 2 lines and 6 extensions. If you used an answerphone for the voicemail then you only have 1 spare extension for future use. For what you want a KX-T616 may be better as it has 16 extensions.

However on the downside, the KX-T series doesn't have caller ID compatability and the system itself is getting a little dated so probably a BT Inspiration would be a better choice. That will come with 2 lines and 6 extensions on board and can take additional cards for 2 more lines and 6 more extensions and also built in voicemail. Again, eBay is the best place to look for one and as a guide you should be able to pick up a 2+6 CCU with 1 or 2 system phones for around £200-250.

You can select differnet ringing groups for day and night so you can have all ringing in the day and only the ones downstairs at night. You may be better off looking at using a standard answerphone as the voicemail card is quite a bit more expensive. The advantage of using the voicemail card is you can have seperate mailboxes for each member of the household and you can also access the messages from any extension. With a standard answerphone you could enable remote access and dial the extension internally to retrieve messages from any extension.
