Not at all cool, but Dire Straits on the Brothers in Arms tour - the 'home town' gig at Newcastle City Hall, December 85 is probably the most 'in awe' I've been at a gig.

The Euro 96 gig at Old Trafford in 96 (surprisingly!) was really enjoyable, too. Simply Red, M People, Madness and Dodgy!

One of the best performances was UB40 in 95 (I think) at an outdoor reggae event in Sheffield. Jamiraquai played (reggae band??) and the biggest cheer they got was when Jay Kay announced "this is the last song"

Bruce Springsteen - Milton Keynes 1993 I lost my voice for a day from singing so much.
Next best probably Jean Michel Jarre Wembley 1994 (I think) superb the music the lasers.

U2, zoo tv show, celtic park - for the shher scale, just about as big as it gets. literally jaw droppingly awesome.

prince, lovesexy show, wembley arena - first gig i went to - 4 of us trekked down from scotland especially. worth every bit of effort.

cocteau twins, glasgow barrowlands - very lucky to have caught them live, and just the most fantastic thing - and at one of the best venues in the country.

new order - SECC - not the best venue, but one of my favourite bands, back when they were at their best.

the wonder stuff - seen them 4 times, but i still remember that first time at the QMU, just before the eight legged groove machine came out.

tori amos - king tut's wah wah hut - great little venue, and perfect for tori and her piano.

more recently -

the white stripes - seen them three times - brilliant at ally pally, buit last year's headline set at glastonbury was incredible.

radiohead at glastonbury - watched from afar as i'm not so keen on the newer stuff, but brilliant moment as some flares were let loose on helium balloons during fake plastic trees.

tim booth - carling academy in birmingham - tiny venue, great set, and tim has a way of conecting with the crowd that very few have. shame it looks as tho' they're not doing another record.

and bang up to date - best recent gigs being the go! team at oxford brookes - they just have so much energy, and the music is so brilliant, it's got to be one of the most fun gigs you could ever go to.

at the other end of the scale sigur ros at the hammersmith apollo - just amazing live.

there must be load more, but they're ones that spring to mind.

Celine Dion's Falling Into You tour! (1997) She had such an amazing stage presence and her vocals were brilliant (obviously! lol)! The songlist was also very good!

Babyshambles in January this year

A rocking night, great atmosphere and a top performance, also a kicking version of Don't Look Back In Anger which followed on from Don't Look Back Into The Sun.

michael jackson dangerous tour 92 @ wembley for the atmosphere and his sheer genius/showmanship

bon jovi wembley 2000 for rising to the challenge of closing the stadium and playing a three hour greatest hits package

bon jovi hyde park for another three hour performance and playing in front of 92000 people the same night as glasto

the darkness (considering at the time they were unknown) and moby for stealing robbie williams thunder at knebworth.

Very diverse concerts for me. Both mindblowing performances from very different performers, in very different venues.

Bruce Springstein - July 1985 @ Roundhay Park, Leeds..... travelled up from London on a coach. Absolutely awesome. Was only 17 and got blown away. (Incidently, Boris Becker won Wimbledon for the first time that day as well!)

Jump forward to November 2004, Shepherds Bush Empire..... Darren Hayes. Just THE most amazing set I've ever heard performed. Was virtually speechless for the whole of the next day. Couldnt even eat! Have got tickets to see him again this Wednesday, cant wait.

Have a mate who went to that and says its the best gig he's ever been to.

For me, a Barenaked Ladies gig at Wovlerhampton Civic. Almost totally unknow over here at the time (still not very well know!) and there was only about 200 people max. They were just outstanding, and cause there were so few people, you could get right up to the stage.

I'm very jealous!! I did see the Australian Pink Floyd Show last night though, and they are truly amazing. It's as close to the real thing you can get, and well worth seeing for any Floyd fan.

They are on my 'To See' list, Dave Gilmour rated them enough to have them perform at his 50th birthday party.

Yes, I remember that. You wont be disappointed. They do a great light show, as well as performing the music superbly.

Only ever been to two - Big Country and Big Country.

So I'll have to say Big Country was the best concert I went to.
