This superb show ended in a near riot as the Odeon management, in a vain attempt to get the band to finish up and go home, lowered the safety curtain when the band was still playing, Ian Hunter hit the odeon manager, the piano was pushed under the safety curtain and Overend Watts lost his bass guitar to the audience and the hoople continued. Queen were an amazing support act. |

I was sure I'd already replied to this thread...
anyway, there are three that really stand out: Pink Floyd at Wembley in 1988 on the Momentary Lapse of Reason tour. The Pixies at Crystal Palace in 1992 (supported by Ride and the Boo Radleys.) The Rollercoaster tour at the Brixton Academy, also in 1992, and featuring Dinosaur Jr, Blur, The Jesus and Mary Chain and My Bloody Valentine. |

3/4 of the real Who, John Entwistle, Roger Daltrey, Pete Townshend with Zak Starkey on drums (Ringo Starr's son who was taught to play the drums by Keith Moon) in November 2000 at the Glasgow SECC. My mate and I waved a Union Flag about the whole 2 1/2 hours of the Gig. After the gig Roger Daltrey and John Entwistle gave up the thumbs up in our direction!
Joe Strummer (RIP) and the Mescaleros supported them. |

Went to Millenium Stadium last year, sat and watched the support acts for 2 1/2hrs, then was in awe as Bono and crew performed, for a little over 2hrs of, their best music from the last 22yrs!!
How many of todays bands will last that long? |

the red hot chili peppers in hyde park a couple of years ago was amazing. plus the legend himself mr. james brown was supporting which just topped it off. managed to get to the front in the golden circle, right up against the barriers. even though i was standing for over 8 hours it was well worth it (couldnt even sit cos it was raining for most of the afternoon but then stopped as soon as the gig started).
cant wait to see the chilis again this summer-definitely wont be disappointed- theyre probably one of the best live bands around.

The Best Concert You Have Been To?
That would have to be Patti Smith at the Bowery Ballroom, New York, on 30 December 2002. I've seen her about 20 times and she is always brilliant, but that was the only time she was wearing a tank top

Not for the music because it weren't great but in about May '89 I saw The Stone Roses at Leicester Uni in The Pit and the sense of seeing something happen was immense. It was one of those gigs where you knew you were part of something before it happened. The amount of people there, the atmosphere just made it a stand out night.Seem to recall they were flogging their t-shirts for £10 as well which in that time was at least twice the price of anyone else.Still, bought a "lemon" one anyway and wore it for the whole summer as everyone else caught on to them.

Bruce Springsteen - July 1985 @ Roundhay Park, Leeds..... travelled up from London on a coach. Absolutely awesome. Was only 17 and got blown away. (Incidently, Boris Becker won Wimbledon for the first time that day as well!) Shelby x |
