HC Upgrades - ADSL 2? :- More Speed 24meg? More Channels? HDTV?

I think most of us have now had the over night upgrade when Homechoicesent out notices to say our phone won't be working for a short time while they carry out some major upgrades.

But does anyone know what theses upgrades mean for the future?

Do we think they were installing ADSL 2 kit into the exchanges? If so what new things could that bring?

Faster Broadband speeds up to 24meg?
More Channels (Desperately needed)?
Interactive Services (ie BBC Extra Live sporting feeds etc..)?
Poss Capacity for HDTV broadcasting in the future?

Well on the "service page on HC website"
http://www.homechoice.co.uk/ongoing/ongoing.html
It states the following in the Q&A section at the bottom;

Why is the work taking place?
We’re upgrading all the telephone exchanges we use so that we can improve our network to meet increasing demand for our service. The upgrade will also allow us to look into providing you with extra services in the future, such as Interactive TV channels

I know I haven't had my upgrade yet but I am not suprised. Although the Homechoice service is good while it works, it is still lacking in several key areas in my opinion.

When, when, when are they going to get thier act together with interactive channels. The fact of the matter is that the interactive system is hardly complicated. All that happens when you watch another 'stream' such as when the winter olympics was on is that you get forwarded to another channel such as '301'. There is nothing majorly complicated there, just a simple menu system and a channel changer. I'm frustrated as I'm paying for a premuim service and people with Freeview can get more enjoyment from things like the Olympics.

...I guess I'll just have to watch another repeat episode of Top Gear. Sigh.
