CD:UK played Liberty X as number one, but on sunday the BBC chart showed Atomic Kitten as still number one.
Did CD:UK make a mistake?, whats the actual number one this week?.

I don't think they both use the same chart, although I can't remember the last time they had different number ones.

No, CDUK broadcast on Saturday don't they, so they have the latest sales until Saturday don't they? Radio 1 have the full week's sales. The Chart show used to do this as well.

so do they use the same chart now? I know the BBC used to use Gallup, but don't anymore, but I still thought the chart on Radio 1 on a sunday was still *compiled exclusively for the BBC*, whilst ITV used the pepsi sponsored chart, which was a different compilation?

Cat said 'our' number one. so its obviously either their choice or something. not the actual charts

The CD:UK charts are the actual charts all the way up to saturday (well myabe friday, or maybe there widweeks). The reason Atomic Kitten got to number 1 on sunday was because they sold 1000 copies more than Liberty X did on saturday. It was very close all through the week for the number 1 spot. Sometimes the difference was just 3 digits. James Masterton on Dotmusic explains it a bit in his commentary on Dotmusic http://www.dotmusic.com/charts/commentary/
