I have a Voyager 10 set-up with the optional connection from the adapter to the PSTN line (downstream of the filter). As a result, I can toggle to the landline and make outgoing calls, if I want to.

Thing is, when there is an incoming call via PSTN the phones on the VoIP connection also ring (showing NT as the CLI). However, it appears you cannot answer the landline call.

This is driving my wife crazy, picking up the wrong phone - she is convinced I have screwed-up the configuration. The guidance supplied by BT isn’t clear so I am doubting myself now.

Is it possible to take incoming landline calls on the VoIP connected phones or do I need to disable the ring (or remove the PSTN/Adapter link to quieten down the criticism I’m getting?

I have just receved my 10v adapter, however cant do anything with it cause, there is a problem with activation site, rang bt voice support, yes we know its down but we dont know how long for, nothing we can do to get you activated, anyone got any surggestions, other then cancelling all my bt, cause there cusotmer support is cra-.

Now i now why i cancelled bt before, cause 98% of the time it is down,

EDIT: Spoke to bt customer support 3 times in uk , nothing we an do, we know line is down.

4th time i call , i get through to india and guess what 3 minutes later v10 is configured and working , via th eback door and sraight through router.


Now i see why call centers are going abroad cause they know what they are doing.

Sorry bt ENGLAND Call Centers , but you need to learn from india.

Why did it take one call to india to fix problem, but after 3 calls to bt voice support, still problem not fixed.

As it happens, it seems you can't switch to INCOMING landline calls and pick them up on the VoIP phone. You can switch to Landline to make Outgoing. At least that is what I have confirmed with my Synergy 35xx equipment.

IMHO not much point in having a facility that rings a phone you can't answer!

Fair enough if the UK people have screwed it up this time, but I'm pretty certain that most of the time you'll find people have got either just 'adequate' (not good) or 'poor' service from outsourced call centres. I've certainly had dire experiences of technical outsourced work, enough to make me change companies in the past.

Hopefully you've got this resolved by now but just incase........

I had the same problem with mine. When I answered the VOIP phone, and it was a landline call, I could hear an engaged tone and the other phone just kept on ringing

After several "interesting" calls to the BT helpdesk they solved it. And it was a UK based support person that solved it!! The "other" helpdesk said it would not work because I had too much bandwidth?!

Anyway, the problem was my router which was blocking the required ports. So, I opened them up and forwarded them to the 10V and, hey presto, it all works fine.

For info the relevant incoming ports are:
32000-36000
5060
2727
49152-49193.

I have a Netgear DG834G and if you're not familiar with port-forwarding (like me ) then you will open the relevant ports and it still won't work!
I had to assign a static IP address to the 10V and forward the ports to that address.
When I was forwarding them to the address that the router dynamically assigned to the 10V it wouldn't work. Your router may behave differently to mine but that was what was catching me out.

So, now I can answer both VOIP and landline calls on the one phone!

Now, when I get an incoming call on the landline you can hear the 10V click and the "Phone line" light comes on. Before, it wasn't switching over.


If this doesn't work I do have a list of things they said to try so just shout and I'll rattle them off. None of them worked but they may for you?
