New 02 contract, what should i push for?

Ok so I'm up on my contract, been an O2 / BT Cellnet customer for around 8 years now, and you know how they love to keep you.

I'm fancying the N91 handset (if it ever turns up) or possibly an 8800 at a push.

Now I currently pay £35 a month for 400 mins and 200 txts, I have seem some better offers including the half price line rental from T-Mob, I have heard O2 will match anything (they have in the past for me), and heard about someone apparently getting my tarriff for about £17 a month!

Now I'm guessing I may end up paying for the hand-set if I want the N91, but I intent to call and "cancel" today, they will offer to match anything I can find, so got any suggestions on what my demands should be?

Look up a deal that you "would like to sign up to" on say the tmobile website and make a note of the costs of the tariff and phone and when o2 ask why you want to cancel just quote the offer and say that you are happy to stay if they match the deal.

You are right to call up and "cancel", their dedicated upgrade people don't give half as good deals!

Last May I managed to get an O2 XDA IIi out of them for £80 (Normally £200 for upgrade). They also gave me the O2 200 tariff, normally £30/month for £15/month. Considering I was on the £20/month tariff, I effectively got an XDA for £25 over the year!

I originally quoted them some deal on Vodafone via the Dial-A-Phone website (I had absolutely no intention of going there!) to get them to give me a great offer to stay. Give it plenty of umming and ahhing and keep saying what a great deal you have seen and they'll keep dropping the prices!!
