0844, 0845, 0870, 0871 and 090x are all charged at higher rates than your standard local and national numbers.

You really do have a bee in your bonnet about 0845 & 0870 numbers, dont you?
However, once again, your assertions are not quite correct.
Nice to see you acknowledging the existence of Local and National call rates now, although I'm not sure how they relate to mobile telephones - didn't local calls die out with Mercury one2one?
In mobile telephony, calls to 01 and 02 numbers are usually referred to as fixed line, landline, or geographic numbers.
Anyway, back to 0870 & 0845 numbers. The OP is on a O2 pay monthly tariff I believe from his
earlier post. As such, calls to 0870 & 0845 are indeed charged at the same rate as calls to landline numbers (or decremented from the free call allowance).
Quote:
“Inclusive call minutes can be used to call some non-geographical and special services numbers with the following prefixes: 0800, 0808, 0844, 0845 and 0870. Once the inclusive minute allowance has been used up, calls to these numbers will be charged as calls to standard UK landlines at the prevailing tariff. Some exceptions may apply and calls to some numbers may be free of charge.”
