Just to clarify, the person referring also gets £5.

Also, before anyone rushes into this, they may wish to carefully read all the terms and conditions, such as charging you to top up and charging you for not making enough calls.

e.g.
Q: What is Minimum Usage?

A: In the event that your usage is below £5.00 over a 3 month period (i.e. if your actual usage in the months April, May & June is £4.99 or less) we will apply a charge of 75p which is deducted from your account balance. This charge will be applied every month until your spend exceeds £5.00.

We introduced this charge to support our commitment to all of our customers of keeping costs to a minimum & for the full advantage to customers that actively use our service.

We will endeavour to let you know in advance if you may incur the 75p Minimum Usage Charge via email. We will also inform you if the charge has been applied to your easyMobile.com account via email. The charge is usually applied on or around the 7th of the following month.
You could of course opt to close the account, but they'll charge you £5 to do that to.

Note, to obtain this service you are required to open an account, which means they have your details. If the account goes into arrears for more than 3 days service will be suspended. If service is suspended, the agreement can be cancelled and collection procedures initiated. That means they'll come after you for any money they claim you owe them; if that includes collection fees - the sky's the limit.

If you don't use the credit, yes after 3 months it gets reduced by 75p each month until you do spend £5 within a three month period. So if you never made a phone call the credit would dwindle down to almost zero after 33 months.

After the 33 months your credit would go into a negative balance, if you don't top up to get to a positive balance in a certain amout of time Easy Mobile will charge an admin fee to your account and eventually pass it on to a debt collection agency.

Anyone taking up the offer might be interested in this thread on MoneySavingExpert. com http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/....html?t=189888

as it seems there are other issues involving the free credit and account cancelling that you may need to take into account

At 33 months you'd still have some credit as it's only at 3 months they then start to deduct 75p.

So you could get either 35 or 36 months.

OK, but the point is that if someone got one of these, used it for a bit then put it in a draw and forgot about it long enough they would end up owing easymobile money & risk having their details being passed onto a debt collecting agency.

Also, it seems that if you cancel while you are in credit EasyMobile will take back the £20 free credit, which could put you into a minus figure.

Exactly, people opt for pay as go for the fact that you're not tied to anything, no commitment.

If you decide to stop using your easymobile account you still get billed and it's easy to forget to cancel it.

Should you have to cancel something that is simply on a pay as you use it service?

Pay if you use it, pay if you don't!!! they should just let accounts disconnect after not being used for 6 months.

Used easyMobile before. My advice to you is DON'T. They appear to be transparent with 'no hidden charges', but they're the only network in the UK to have the absolute CHEEK to charge you for top-ups. You're also able to go into the negative after so many months, you have deductions, etc. Yeah - the calls and texts are cheaper - but in the long run, DON'T use easyMobile until they've developed into a network that doesn't charge to top up, doesn't charge you to not top-up, doesnt let you go into the red, and doesn't threaten you with debt collection agencies!

Very, very poor company.

Exactly, far from transparent or even fair charges - all this from a company whose slogan is "simply does it"

Please tell me who the Mr Noone is, he seems to get everywhere.

However I am sure NO ONE mentioned free credit of Three, as everyone is warning people not to use Three, as they are a dreadful service.

No worries, I'm just always in a funny mood.

I'm not perfect at spelling, I just use iespell, plus once I have posted I read back what I have written, to ensure there are no mistakes, though sometimes I do miss grammatical errors, I'm only human!

What I do find strange, nothing to do with your post, is people who leave their messages with broken quotes, don't they look at what they have posted, and realise it's screwed up?
