I know this has been done before, but with the poignant re-intriduction of Sarah Jane Smith to Dr Who this week, I thought I'd ask for your favourite again?

Mine is a straight tie between Jo Grant (who was just superb alongside Jon Pertwee's Doctor) and the original Romana (Mary Tamm) who was my first ever TV crush.

I was at the right age to really appreciate Nicola Bryant even when she wasn't wearing that bikini

Mind you I'm much older now and well she still has it

Tegan. Enjoyed her love-hate relationship with the fifth-doctor. I know the doctor and his companion aren't supposed to have romantic feelings for each other (although CE/DT and Rose seem to get away with it) but I always wanted them to get together. You could tell she really cared for him - her leaving scene made me cry.

Brave heart Tegan!

Mine was Ace, but I think this was more to do with me growing up at that time and discovering the opposite sex.

Dr 2's assistant Jamie I was always slightly puzzled by his exit though, for as I remember it he was about to demonstrate the highland fling and PT asked him why it was called a Fling and he replied "it's because you fling yourself out of the door" and with that he lunged out of the TARDIS door never to be seen again. I found that rather strange and was quite annoyed that we never got an explanation. He just disappeared as far as I'm aware to re-appear some time later on a smallholding in Yorkshre - if anyone has any information to the contrary, please let me now.

Definitely Sarah Jane Smith.
When she left I was five, I was heartbroken.
Tonight, after 30 years, this issue was at last settled properly.

Some of us have been mentioning this on the Outpost Gallifrey website, I always thought Tegan liked The Fifth Doctor but never quite told him how she really felt.

Jamie left the Doctor with Zoe at the end of 'The War Games' when the Doctor was brought to trial by the Time Lords. He was sent back to his own time with the memories of his time with the Doctor erased.

He appeared again in 'The Five Doctors', but only as a phantom, and in 'The Two Doctors'.

He is among my top companions, along with SJS and Tegan.

Sarah Jane Smith - obviously!
I'm sure there was no other candidate at all in the production teams mind to be brought back - how could anyone have topped Lis Sladen's performance in last nights epsode.

Interesting how nobody so far has chosen Rose as their all time favourite...

Ditto.

Seeing her last night was fantastic.

Liz Sladen is still a stuning lady.

I was in love with her when she was with John and Tom, and I'm still in love with her now.

No other companion even comes close.
