Okay - sorry if this has been asked before, but i intend buying a DVD recorder and want to be able to record freeview on to it. Now, I already have SKY+, but my tv has freeview built in. Now, sad as it sounds, if I were recording 2 channels on SKY+ could I then record something else off of Freeview on to my DVDR and if so - how?

Many thanks for any help

SCART cables are bi-directional. In other words the same SCART cable that sends the DVD recorder's output to the TV also receives input from the TV.

If the DVD recorder's AV1 SCART is connected to the TV, select channel AV1 on the DVD recorder and you will be able to record Freeview from it.

The DVD recorder will not be connected directly to my tv - instead it will go (like all of my other equipment) via my AVR. It will also be connected to SKY with the other SCART. What I wondered was whether I can capture the TV's output any other way?
Thanx

In that case, it will surely depend on the connections your AV receiver has.

For example, mine has both input and output connections for a VCR; if I put a DVD recorder on those, and the output from my TV's SCART - which outputs the built-in tuner - into one of the other connections on the receiver, then by selecting the TV on the AV receiver, that signal would be passed to the VCR outputs for recording.

Nigel.
