"Normal" people is what we will definitely NOT be getting.

If you want to watch normal people become a voyeur and rig up some video equipment to spy on them until the police come.

The whole idea of the audition process is to pick out housemates who have something extra, something special that will make them highly entertaining when they are placed in a decidedly abnormal scenario and given tasks designed to demonstrate those qualities for which they were picked.

Big Brother isn't a scientific experiment, it's not observing primates in their natural environment.

It's a game show, it's light entertainment.

What happens to these HMs when they are given tasks in the BB house then?

Since about BB4 - HMs have not really bothered with seriously trying to win tasks .. what's the point, BB will give them booze anyway and will feed them regardless ...

What a Suppress the house will be full with the same old dull, emaciated, silicon enhanced clones as we get every year. no chenge there then.  The problem is that these women have no personality and though watching women like Sam walking around in a bikini 24/7 my keep some insecure men happy for a bit even they get board of it after a few days and that is why most of these women are among the first to be evicted

As a red blooded bloke I love nothing more than naked female flesh but not on BB I want arguments, fights, friendships, vendetta's, fun, tragedy.
I have porn for flesh I watch BB to be entertained. Obviosly I wont be complaining if there is flesh but dont try to build the show around it.
PS
I dont want false or forced romance either

Advice, hire a porn video.

These people are going to be onscreen for three months... I want some personality with the flesh !!

I hope you all realise that this show is making us dumber.

I bet if we looked back three years our little smart-arse comments would've been a lot smarter.

It's really funny the whole celebrity guest thing. Despite the fact that there are many naysayers here BBLB is still a popular show and a lot of celebs are desperate to get on it but not desperate enough (in their eyes) to watch BB and it's hilarious when they try to get the skinny from those of us who do watch it. They've learned their lesson now though (the celebs) that going on when you don't know what/who you're talking about makes you look a right twaddle.

Do they?

I thought that myth was exposed last year when some of them seemed unaware of obvious counterexamples to their theories.

(Or perhaps they were just too biased?)

Few guests of any sort were worth anything on BBLB last year.

(Naturally, we know JTH watches the show, but even she seemed constrained not to give any of her more interesting views when she was on BBLB.)

Was there more than one celeb like that last year? (I'm thinking the one was Alicia Duvall or whatever her name is.)

Non-experts (Dave Gorman, some female author whose name I can't quite recall, and a comedienne? / actress? (Kathy Burke?)) were almost the only worthwhile guests.

Marian Keyes. I'm sorry but I just don't understand if one doesn't enjoy the programme then what is the point of watching it? And what must it feel like to continually subject yourself to something that one doesn't like, that annoys one, that doesn't provide enjoyment on any level - especially when there's a whole wide world out there of things that will

I usually didn't watch it. But reading DS:BB still gives a pretty good idea of what happened on the show. (I didn't see the Alicia Duvall, for example.)

BTW, how did BBLB manage to get so many guests who had the same biases or blindnesses, or thought BB6 was the best ever , and so on?

Presumably they don't completely vet them in advance.... or Dave Gorman's Craig comment wouldn't have given Dermot his "thin ice" moment.

Or, actually, no year. There has never been an emaciated HM for example, and few are silicon enhanced. The ones who are have no positive correlation with being dull.

But keep posting the same message word-for-word if you want to, including all the usual falsehoods. It makes me think back fondly to the use of signatures in the C4 BB forum.

OK. Let's look at this in a different way. I do not think George Clooney is attractive - at all. I don't get it. Yet millions of women from one end of the globe do. That does not make them right/me wrong, or vice versa. So just because you might feel one way about a BB-related topic doesn't make you right/all the guests on BBLB who feel differently wrong, or vice versa.

There are basically three types of people in the BB World (as I see it). There are people who think it is a scourge against humanity. Then there are people who think it's a load of fun, not to be taken too seriously. Then there are the You and I's. It's kind of like how people who are football fanatics get so angry with people who just show up at World Cup time.

All this relates to BB in that if you're not an anorak about it and it doesn't cross your mind inbetween series then yes it is quite likely that each one will be new and wonderful to you. I'm an anorak about it and each one is new and wonderful to me and it's not till it's all over that I can say hand-on-heart how wonderful (or not) I really thought it was because I'm so busy riding the roller-coaster while it's on.

I have now been doing BBLB for several years and I will say hand-on-heart that no one, and I mean NO ONE has ever, ever not ever tried to steer me towards anything, nor have they ever tried to steer me away from anything. Some of the people who appear regularly (like Marian) and I are friends and no one has ever mentioned to me that they've been steered any which direction either.

The only time what you say becomes an issue is if there is a possible legal consideration and in all my appearances that has only come up once.

So we might not agree with what the guests say (or don't) but that doesn't make them right (or wrong)

What's with all the insinuations in this forum about people who merely have a different view of the show?

I don't mean from you in particular. In addition to your suggestion that those who want "normal" people are perverts , there's one about "some insecure men", and one saying "hire a porn video" -- and that's just in this thread. Why is it happening?

Being a game show and light entertainment is not inconsistent with having relatively normal people in it, or with having some eye candy, though.

It's interesting that so many people seem to think the audition process gets it wrong -- supposedly picking HMs who don't appeal to viewers etc. Isn't it just possible that the people making the show know more about what works than we do, rather than less?

Meanwhile, I hope the "large swimming pool" rumour is true. No more of these silly spas and mini-pools ...

Of course that I feel differently doesn't make me right and the guests wrong.

But other things can. For example, when Science made his comment about a donkey carrying Jesus, it made, and was ment to make, sense. That does make me right about it and the guest who treated it as nonsense wrong.

Re the seeming party line in BBLB opinion, I wonder whether potential guests are interviewed or something like that. (Established guests such as you and Marian would already be "trusted" so to speak.)

Our BB would have more nudity/actual sex if the house was full of Europeans that spoke English.

I don't recall this particular exchange, could you give me a quick recap?
