DVD Player & set up
I currently watch DVDs through my PS2 (I have the full Region X, RGB Scart set up etc). I also have a surround sound amp and decoder which I use as my main stereo (I play cds through an old CD player connected to the amp rather than through the PS2). My CD player has finally died, and so I have decided to upgrade to a new DVD player to watch DVDs through and to use as a CD player.
I am thinking about getting the Toshiba SD-220 (multiregion from Richer Sounds for £135). Is this much better than the SD-110 (which is £40 cheaper)? I don't want to spend more than £150 and from the reviews that I've seen I think that the SD-220 looks the best. However, on an earlier post on this forum someone doubted the compatibility of the SD 220 with certain discs - is that a problem others have experienced? Also, given my current set up I will need to connect the Player to my Amp and TV and both are about 1.5m from where the Player will be located. So, I will need a 1.5m RGB scart lead and a 1.5m digital optical cable to plug into the amp. Is this distance likely to cause any worsening in the quality of the picture / sound? Does anyone have any recommendations for the best value leads and cables? Lastly, I will need a scart box because I will be out of RGB scart sockets on the TV (and I can't link them through anymore than what I do already!). Are scart boxes okay? Do they decrease the quality of the picture? I assume that they are RGB - are all of them RGB? Thanks in advance! Landlord

ok here goes i have the sd220 dvd & let me tell you this player rock.i got mine connected with component cables.but have tried it with rgb & it is class.as for your scart box you have 2 options 1 like mine i have a switcher box i got it from index cat no 551-235 £9.99 it has no scart connected so you can connect a good rgb lead from the box to your tv then run your ps2 dvd xbox ect though the three inputs.this box has a rgb switch on it so you can switch it on or off.
2/ you can buy quattro switcher box but they cost £70.00. the box i use is great no drop in picture quality just as good as direct into the av ports on the tv & belive me i`m fussy. hope this helps
