Topfield TF5800PVR - help please
milanlad

I have been a Pace Twin user but I'm sick of the rubish EPG and the unit in general.

I've been looking at the Topfield TF5800PVR - it looks just the ticket, but I have just a couple of questions.

1. How good is the EPG and if anyone knows, is it better than on the Pace Twin?

2. I understand you can transfer programmes from the TF5800PVR to a PC using the USB. Can you actual move the same programme from PC back to the TF5800PVR? I like the idea of being able to keep a copy of important programmes on PC just in case the HD fails on the TF5800PVR.

Thanks in advance.

The standard toppy EPg is functional, but not that impressive.
however if you dont like it you can use another EPG by means of a Tap, EPG navigator, Mystuff, and Jags are three alternative EPGs and some can even scan the EPG and look for certain programmes to record automaticly, by means of a word search.

you cna move recordings from a topfield to a P.C and back to the toppy again.
if youve got them on your P.C you can create a DVD ( or aeven a VCD) from the recordings quite easily, like this:

run the toppy file through project X ( this will turn it into a .m2p file)
run the m2p file through Nero vision express ( or other video editor) create a menu/chapeters/ edit bits out, etc then burn to DVD.

Or you can use a one-click jobby like DVB Studio Pro.

Or you can store the file on your PC and use a networked DVD player to play the MPEG files. You'd need to convert them to standard MPEG using VideoReDo.
