Telewest Charges for calls i accept
ahus98

This has been an ongoing issue for around 1 year, however the address is registered staff account (my brother) so there is no line rental. No outgoing calls are made (yes for sure) as everyone has more mobile minutes than they need.

For a weird strange reason, i'm getting charged for particular incoming local calls (0208). Appears to be telewest only numbers. Why oh why would i be ALWAYS
charges for people calling me from telewest phones (obviously people i know).

No i dont accept the calls as reversed charges in any way.
The only way i can avoid the charges is not answering my landline as telewest does not seem to offer the appropriate call barring to enable further tests, in short i was told if i could prove it (somehow) then they i could only guess might take me seriously.

Telewest claim that cant happen and cant offer a solution. Yet it is and they have no further suggestions or really cant be bothered to figure it out, how we all love such supportive staff services (yes they are the same, very disappointing).

Its not the money (few £'s (2/3) per month, but why its happening, no one knows. Any comments would be appreciated.

thanks

Do you recognise the 0208 numbers? From what you say, they are calling you.

Can you find out if the caller is also being charged, or even get the caller to accept that they initiated the call? If so, that should make TW take note.

I have asked my uncle & although have not checked myself (i need to check) they say that our number never appears on their bill, yet their always doing to calling to our landline.

I hate when the customer services can be so big headed and say, it cant happen, over 12 months and counting, im keeping my bills though.

Ask your Uncle to ask Telewest to do a CDR check (Call Data Records), which will involve them checking the progress of a number of calls from him to you. This is a process which must always trigger specified events, including the billing event.

The normal way to do a CDR check would be to make a call to a Telewest test number, followed by a certain number of calls to your number, ended by another call to the Telewest test number. They can then look for this sequence and validate the routing and billing.

If they refuse to do this, insist on a complaint being opened, as it really isn't a big deal for them to do, though the CS rep may never have even heard of the process.
