Even if your outsource or agency your still working for o2 and there is nothing wrong in that Gary but be honest about your reasons for your post.

Why else would you wonder about it??

I have been honest about why i wanted to know. I have no hidden agenda. This information is hardly Watergate, nor commercially sensitive.

If i did have a hidden agenda I would just simply go into the stores and asked them myself, doing what all companies do, mystery shopper.

As i mentioned, the reason i orginally wanted to know was because I wanted my own phone quickly as I needed a new phone ASAP to avoid missing some VERY important calls. (A new job) Though as it meant signing up for a new contract I wanted to know if others had managed to attain the online tariffs at the retailers as i had been lead to believe has happened in the past.

In the end I just had to put up with waiting. Glad i did as the shinny Samsung P300 is an ace phone

You didn't mention that at all Gary you said in post 4 that it was for reference purposes ad also in post 9 you had come across an example and would like to know if it was widespread

Edit also as an employee you would be privvy to all offers

Well I am not on the internet to outlet my reasoning for everything i do

I had heard of an example from one of my friends that someone had done what i listed. Thus I asked the question for reference if it was widespread.

The reason i wanted to know if it was widespread was because I wanted to know if i could get a retailer to set my own contract up on an online tariff. Like, i mentioned i needed a phone ASAP.

Usually customers are not allowed to setup contracts in shop and take the phone if conx to online tariff, thus if i could find one which did I would have bought one there and then.

Not sure what you mean by privvy to all offers
What offers?

Such a simple orginal question seems to have been blown out of all proportion.

Mods can delete this thread if they wish, as it doesn't really serve any purpose now.

Gary, As you work either for or because of o2 you will know what offers on phones and delivery dates. Mine came in 2 days. As for shops fiddling the online tariff, surely its quite easy to check. IPs

Fair enough it's not the insult of the year, but if I'd answered you and you posted that in response as you did at the start of the thread I'd be wondering why I bothered answering in the first place.

As for your research, the 2 O2 stores at Meadowhall in Sheffield both refused to give handsets out to us for an online tarrif.

blimey this thread had no replys when i wrote 1 a few days ago. my local 02 shop would upgrade my handset they didnt even batter an eye lid. they wouldnt however have anything to do with the actual tariff.

like i said 02 retentions wanted 60 quid off me to upgrade to the d600 the store wanted nothin.

I know where i would rather go and i suggest anyone wishing to upgrade goes into their local store and tries it. I was actually told by a rep over the phone to this

nice work 02!
