I've just been looking on Channel 4's website at the list.

Two there that definitely weren't just from a quick scan

"Joe Le Taxi" by Vanessa Paradis. She had a hit a few years later called 'Be My Baby' - I bought it.

"The One And Only" by Chesney Hawkes. He had a follow up since, "I'm a Man Not A Boy" which definitely charted.

Lazy C4 research

Kung Fu fighting

I'd have to go for Your Woman by White Town which amazingly didn't feature last night but late 70's dance/disco was the era of some fantastic one-hit wonders

Space - Magic Fly
Funkadelic - One Nation Under a Groove
McFadden and Whitehead - Ain't no stoppin' us now
Rodney Franklin - The Groove

etc etc

Don't think anyone remembers (or wants to remember) these songs now - I still love them though

i dont know whether it can be classed as lazy research or rather that the show had to entertain and so artists were chosen have become only associated well known popular career defining hit (even if they did have another hit at 69) because the majority of people watching wouldnt be obsessed with the chart/or so pedantic to say well a hit is top 75.

"I'm A Man Not A Boy" reached number 27.

"Be My Baby" reached number 6.

Both inside the top 40. One inside the top 10.

Hardly "top 75" hits.

And don't most artists have one "career defining" hit?
