wrong, in the RT, RLP says that he's a kind of evil genius who's creating an army of Cybermen to make himself immortal

BTW is John Lumic in a wheelchair, if so won't that bugger up bringing Davros back - 2 wheelchair bound villians in a series

But they always call The Doctor's enemies 'evil' in their press releases...they even called Cassandra evil.
It gets to the point where the word 'evil' loses it's impact.

Disappointing. But let's face it - Cybermen just aren't scary!

Think the Beeb need to turn up the Fear Factor, perhaps right up to 11, as kids really are tougher than they look when it comes to movie monsters.

I'm told the trailer is very reminiscent of "Daleks: Invasion Earth 2150"?

Depends who it buggers it up for, or it's buggered up at all, as I think it extremely unlikely there is or has been any intention of bringing him back.

These people have started the episode thread.

The Girl in the Fireplace (6 May 2006) - Mulett
School Reunon (29 April 2006 ) Mullet
Tooth and Claw (22 April 2006) - Alrightmate
New Earth (15 April 2006) - Den Watts”

Thanks for that (not for my putting my name up in lights, but for posting all of the links )

The wallpapers this year are truly outstanding. I haven't failed to download a new one every week once the official website is updated.

I do think it is clever that they are giving them a new origin, basically.”

There was a rumour flying around that we would see the original cybermen this year (the ones with the white faces.)

Spoiler
Yes he is - he had an accident (broke his ankle I think) whilst on set so they wrote around it and stuck him in a wheelchair.

Or would anyone really be bothered if it wasn't shown at all? (Eurovision Song Contest that is)

I was the same. Daleks are a scary idea, but not so much in practical terms. Cybermen always gave me a chill...

I have always thought that was the best version of the Cybermen, and also the best voice, so it would be great to see them back. I don't think we will though, just a rumour I think.

Yes, I would be bothered - but then again, I liked the farting aliens

I'm beginning to worry about my taste.

I found it very interesting that the highest fear factor rating was given by the oldest child. Maybe the younger ones don't quite get what's happening?

I think that's highly likely. I know the Cybermen scared me as a kid more than the Daleks ever did. (Well, at least until we learnt Daleks can climb stairs in McCoy's era)

I'm hoping this episode is a new beginning for the Cybermen - a "Genesis of the Cybermen" if you will. I think the correlation between an "alternative" Earth and a "twin" Earth (Mondas) is just too great to be ignored

I wouldnt get the story if i was their age... im older than them and takes me a bit of effort to keep up
like the last episode, i dont see how children could of followed that jumping from diffrent time periods all the way through and why the Doctor couldnt get back to Rose and Mickey.

Or maybe i just underestimate our young generation and they are a lot smarter than we think and are not all

Might be a bit hard to follow if it was condensed into a 45 minute programme!
