This is What I Want - TAP Assistance Please

Hi, as a migrating Inverto owner there are a couple of things I would like to achieve on the Toppy to make it more Mrs Hodg friendly

I've done a fair bit of reading but my head is in somewhat of a spin - I knew I should have written it all down!

EPG - I was thinking of using MyStuff with eit2mei but I want to know does this stop the channel changing as you scroll through the EPG? I find that most annoying if I'm just trying to plan my viewing for later on or set recordings from the EPG! If MyStuff doesn't do that is there one that does?

Autopadding - I know there's the standalone, Timer Extend but is there another TAP that does this as well as incorporating other features?

Chase Play - Is there a TAP that allows you to go to the beginning of a recording whilst not being on the Tuner it's recording from? I only ask as I quite often watch sports events on Chase Play and the feature kind of becomes redundant if you already know the live score.

I'm sure there was something else but I've forgotten

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

hodg

ps I'm posting this on Toppy.org too so don't get annoyed if you see this thread twice!

Yes

Yes MyStuff can set configurable auto padding plus a whole list of other features like quick jumps using all the colour keys.

MyStuff At least I think it is MYStuff that is doing this on my Toppy.

Edit; Do you mean - set a recording on x channel; switch to y channel; later while x still recording go to library press OK on recording and you go to start of recording; that is what it does; is that what you want?

MyStuff is the canines dangly bits and a new version is promised in the near future.

Thanks Richard- Looks like MyStuff lives up to it's billing for me

Looks like the Toppisti over on Toppy UK beat me to it. As a matter of interest why are you getting rid of your Inverto?

I've had two complete library wipeouts that I don't think for a moment were hardware related so enough was enough.

It's a shame as the Inverto is a great PVR and I'd go as far to say, HDD size excepted, better out of the box than the Toppy

You know, you can say that here and no one gets upset! Isn't that wonderful. Some of the people who only read the Inverto section should be directed to this and take note!!

Oh, and back on topic, I meant to say I use EPG navigator which I find excellent. It doesn't change channel (agree that is very annoying!) and it gathers its own EPG data which was what I wanted (Mystuff doesn't). It's a lot simpler than Mystuff though, depends if you want all the other goodies Mystuff offers. I'm guessing you will Hodg!

You don't need a TAP to go back to the start of chase play on the current firmware. Just select the in progress recording from the archive and press OK.

You guess right, Ang

I'm just about to load MyStuff, et2mei, Description Extender and Remote Extender and see how that all pans out. Maybe Tap Commander but that's possibly because I like the sound of the name more than anything else

Thanks Simon, actually Nigel did point that out to me on Toppy.org earlier today. It's my Inverto roots showing, only a completely recorded programme would appear in the Archive (Library.) A recording in progress would appear in the Record List. It's just nice to know where it would be

I had a feeling that was standard behaviour; you do end up losing track of what the firmware is doing and what the TAPs are doing. A good reason to stay with a vanilla Toppy for a few days to work out what it does; what you dont like; and what you want to change with a TAP. The temptation to start messing straight away is probaly too much for most people although I have heard some people just carry on using it as it comes out of the box.

Yes, that's very true... I think Improbox does a lot more than I realise - it's a great TAP that just carries on helping you out behind the scenes!

Looking forward to hearing how you get on with the Toppy. I just hope you don't regret getting rid of the Verty !
