I wonder if they'll let me have my existing geo number for free, instead of £2 a month like I pay now.
EDIT: I can point my new free number to my asterisk box, and cancel the old one. I don't mind changing my number. I won't be topping up the account, but I use another voiptalk acct for outgoing. |

Well I signed up but when I call the number they gave me I just get a recorded message telling me that extension number is unavailable and to leave a message after the tone!
Even though my device is active and is showing online under my account??? Don't look to good!

I'm betting that it might take a while for your account to be properly setup or it's a problem at your end.
I've been using voiptalk for 2 years and it's been superb. |

How can it be a problem my end?
I have Voipfone setup on line 1 and that has been working no problems, I have set Voiptalk up on line 2 and it is showing as connected but I don't receive any calls! You can't really screw it up as it's only basic setup needed! |

The account I signed up for 10-15 minutes ago is working fine on line2 of my pap2, and the incoming number is working fine with my asterisk box. I can make calls through my asterisk box as well.
If it was their problem wouldn't I be having problems too? |

It's working now, must take a few minutes to setup fully or something!
What are they like? Are they reliable? How many times do they go down a year? |

In two years, I think I couldn't use their service once.
You could say their call charges are a bit higher than the competition but it's worth it for the quality of service. |

Hmmm when you say quality of service do you mean sound quality?
I have been using Voipfone and their sound quality is identical to a bt telephone line! I have now tested voiptalk and they also have bt line quality when it comes to sound! Vonage use US servers and that is why the sound quality is not as good! I pay £1.99 for an incoming number and 1p per min for uk calls to 01 and 02 numbers! I like the free number option and I think the sound quality is good but how much do I pay a min for calls to 01 and 02 numbers with voiptalk? Just to add what package am I on with voiptalk? it does not tell me but if I browse their site all there packages have a monthly line rental??? |

I meant overall quality of service - reliability, sound quality, etc.
You are on the "standard tariff" so calls to landlines are 1.4p/min. The better tariffs such as prepay silver and the unlimited tariffs are more expensive. It's easy to find the standard tariff on the voiptalk site. |
