No Scart on TV for DVD
I have agreed to buy a DVD player for my parents, but they will not upgrade there TV for one with a scart connection.
Could some one tell me what I need to be able to connect a DVD to this old TV, which all that it has is one arial connection at the back. Are there any DVD players that offer this output method. Any help much appriciated cheers. |

the only thing i could think of is connecting the SCART from the DVD player into the SCART on the VCR (that does have a SCART socket right?) with VCR connected to TV with arial lead. Although this will only work if your DVD player has the capability to disable Macrovision otherwise the picture will be completly unwatchable.
Alternatively im sure there are adapters you can get for this but they are likely to be expensive and you are never going to get particulary good quality picture because of the old TV with only RF input i know you said it was not possible but i would seriously reccommend a newer TV, the current TV is probably about on its last legs anyway, TVs with RF only have not been made for many years now and even just buying a relativley cheap 21 inch TV for under £200 would probably give a huge improvement in image quality |

You can buy an RF modulator. Lectropacks have one for £49. Have a look at:

buy a Tv for them instead and get the DVD player Next year.
DVD by composite, in stereo only or on a set smaller than 25" is just not worth it and defeats the whole object of getting dvd for the improved sound and picture. The other alternative is to buy them a PS2 as this will run on a composite lead fine. |
