And the Princes Trust Birthday bash is on ITV. Lets hope the time change and the concert don't affect things.

Actually, the FA Cup Final drew 11.3m and Doctor Who only drew 8.4m so more people wanted to see the FA Cup Final.

Discussion of the match is as much a part of the even as the game itself. It was only 20 minutes for heaven's sake - it's not like anything was cancelled.

(And for the record, I'm a fan of football and Doctor Who.)”

Absolutely.

As with viewing figures, it is also interesting that traditionally when the FA Cup Final is on, the streets are relatively clear of people.

One thing else to mention for the non-football lovers; a big game like this has to be watched live. It is all part of the experience.

Who remembers the episode of Whatever Happened To The Likely Lads? When Bob and Terry have to avoid hearing what the score was before the game is shown on televison?

In 1993, I went to see Paul Merton's live tour in my (then) local theatre. It was the same night that England were playing the last of the USA '94 qualification games against Poland and had to win to qualify. Merton made a few jokes about it, but didn't give away the score. Afterwards, my Dad and I walked home intending to watch the game that I had taped and we only passed two people on that journey - and they were talking about the result!

===

Interesting that there are also complaints about the Eurovision song contest; both the FA Cup Final and Eurovision, whether you like them or not, are traditions that have gone on for far longer than Doctor Who has.

===

Sometimes though, these things just happen. Bare in mind that on many occasions, the Eurovision Song contest could have postponed the next episode of Doctor Who. At least we don't have to wait two weeks for the next episode.

I wasn't complaining, you may have missed my intended irony

Personally I watched the FA Cup Final and will probably also watch Eurovision - I don't really care what time Doctor Who starts, as long as it is on!

Fair enough richtayls, but can you imagine the outpour if Doctor Who was postponed for a week?

I wouldn't like to be manning the duty desk that night.

I actually wouldn't mind that as long as I knew about it!
What I mind is having set the video cos I was away for a weekend, having the times messed about so I miss the end and not finding that out until after the Sunday repeat!

But surely you knew there was a chance the football would overrun? Every TV listings magazine clearly states "Subsequent programmes are subject to change".

It was in the published schedule information

"Subsequent programmes may run late ..."

Maybe they should run a mailing list for people who don't bother reading the TV listings.

I previously mentioned this, but it is worth mentioning again: as a Doctor Who fan, I would be surprised that you didn't get the Radio Times with the Cyberman cover and the free Doctor Who stickerbook!

As dundee_mark and gomezz quite rightly point out, it was clearly stated that programmes times may change in most listings and it certainly was in the RT (page 67).

This doesn't apply to all listing magazines, but in TVQuick the repeat showing on BBC3 on Sunday was listed at the wrong time, so I missed most of it. Thanks a bunch...

Is the Friday showing a repeat, or the next episode?

Yes.
I hang my head in shame.
I should have checked every single programme that was on before the one I wanted .
Silly me.

It's ok - I'll live - it's just irritating, that't all.

They may well do, but I haven't bought one in several years. For the record, I use Digiguide, which didn't update to show the delay.

I know no one (apart from my dad) who would shed a single tear if every football match was removed on to a channel of its own to leave the rest of us in peace. And my dad would only shed a tear because he's too tight to even buy a Freeview box!
