Why does the darn thing have a initial 2 hour limit on recording - you are recording the best cup final in years and you forget to extend the timer.

Double Grhh

I had to pause the game before Extra Time for about 12 minutes. Mrs hodg wanted Dancer Fever recording which I did through MyStuff (Auto padded 3 minutes prior and 5 mins following). Imagine my pleasure when on Liverpool's 3rd penalty the machine jumped to live. I thought it was the slow button that took you back to live with MyStuff but pressing it didn't do any good and my efforts to scroll back using the progress bar were unsuccesful

I thought I'd best check Strictly Dance was recording and did so by pressing the Archive button. This proceeded to crash Toppy resulting in it rebooting itself. I checked through Archive again and it showed the recording as complete with the hour padding I'd set when I saw the Football was running late. Set it to record again and all worked.

Is it me?

If you set things to record in the EPG you won't have the 2 hour limit.

Yep, that's what I do.

Can't understand why it doesn't do what the Pace Twin and Sky+ do in pressing Record simply records as much of the current program (inc. padding) as possible, saving part or all of the buffer if necesary in the case of Sky+. Would make a lot more sense.

There's an option in ImproBox that does that; you can also start a recording that just goes on forever by pressing record a second time and winding the duration down past 0, or amend a running timer that way - which I had to do for Dr Who this evening.

If you can detail what you did before the crash, proabbly in the MyStuff thread, then someone there will be able to work out what caused it.

OTOH, if you let the Mrs control the Toppy (and buy yourself a Dreambox to control via WebIF) she can be responsible for cocking up her own recordings (Dance Fever Results won't have to be sat through this week, hehe) and you can record what you want on the Dreambox to watch later after she has gone to bed in a huff at missing Dance Fever.

Result.
