I've had a Pronto for nearly a week and I'm very happy with it but it's taking a hell of a lot of my time getting it up and running, let alone "tweaking" it so that it's intuitive and easy to use.

I'm getting there but I keep going back to change certain aspects as I'm not totally happy with them and then I make a mistake or two (with regards to IR codes or mapping buttons) and I end up where I started! And this is all with saving often! Anyway, it's a learning experience and sometimes it's fun (but not often!).

So who else has one here? Any pointers for a newbie? I've been using Remote Central and it's great but the Pronto forum in particular seems to be more aimed at Pronto veterans and they're mostly American. Oh, if only they had a special forum for newb Brits! It's still a great place, it's very friendly and there's a wealth of information but it would be nice to converse with others here on all things Pronto.

Also, is there anyone here that has a Pronto and multichannel TV (preferably Sky)? If so, have you done all the logos or know where to get them? The ones for download on RC are mostly out of date and some of the newer ones are designed for the colour Prontos. I've done a few now using the ones I found on www.satlogo.com but it can be a hit and miss process what with some shades not showing up so well when converted to greyscale and then 4 shades (which is one of the reasons why I don't like the colour Pronto files that much).

Yeah, I wish they had a brit forum and an old device forum (I have an eleven year old VCR).

I've had my Pronto for a few months now but I still haven't got it set up the way I want it. Lack of discrete codes etc.

You might want to check out Tonto which is a little bit better than ProntoEdit and still in continuing developement.

I don't use channel logos myself - but then I'm only on DTT.

A colleague of mine has had one for yonks and he's got loads of kit inc. 1.5m sat dish.

Having just taken another look at your original post: Yes it looks like you have, I will just go back to sleep.

Ah, Tonto! I downloaded that the opther night and totally forgot about it the next day (and since then until now!). I'll give it a go in a minute and see if it's any better than Pronto Edit.

As for the need for a Brit forum, I'd imagine they'd be many people here at the Digital Spy forums that have Prontos and would be in favour of lobbying/asking nicely for DS to set one up, afterall they have one for TiVo/Sky+.

I wonder how many of us there is? Which reminds me, I'll add the Pronto to my profile

No worries! I see by your profile you've got the Neo, how you getting on with it? I couldn't get mine to work with my PC which was a shame as I did like the fact that it had hard buttons (and that they were in a very similar fashion to Sky Digital's!).

As a remote the Neo is fantastic bit of kit. I know other people have had serious problems with the Neo such as yours (why is it RS232 and not USB?), but the only real problem that I had was with it not learning from my VideoLogic DAB tuners remote. I was able to solve this problem with a bit of perseverance and NeoHacker. The main thing that I have been impressed with is its battery life, I’ve only just replaced the original 3 AA’s with new ones after 3 months of heavy use and lots of uploads and downloads.
