Ms Dos /fs Switch?

I'm trying to format a flash pen using MS DOS, it will not format it it windows but using dos I get the follwoing

"THE TYPE OF FILE SYSTEM IS RAW PLEASE USE THE /FS SWITCH TO SPECIFY THE FILE SYSTEM YOU WISH TO USE ON THIS VOLUME"

anyone any ideas how I format it in dos?

format /fs:XXX

XXX= FAT, FAT32 or NTFS.

For future reference, format /?.

Ok thanks, I now get the following.

THE TYPE OF FILE SYSTEM IS RAW
THE NEW FILE SYSTEM IS FAT
VERIFYING 0M
CANNOT DETERMINE THE NUMBER OF SECTORS ON THIS VOLUME


Anyone any ideas?

Got it sorted, Went into control management and administrative tools

there are a few tools for this as well.......that will also let you make it bootable.

i've tried the hp one on many different keys and they've all worked but not the dell one
