Hi, I'd like a little assistance from the good people of DS please.

I'm on holiday between 5 - 10th June and want to go see some gigs (most likely on my own) but don't really know who I should see.

I love to listen to bands like Arch Enemy, Nightwish, Metallica, Mudvayne, Machine Head, My Dying Bride, Paradise Lost, Lacuna Coil and so on...To give a general idea

Can anybody reccomend any bands along those lines that I should go see around the Sheffield, Derby, Nottingham area though I am happy to travel further.

Thanks

Well Download Festival takes place at Donington Park from June 9-11 with Tool, Metallica and Guns N Roses as headliners http://www.downloadfestival.co.uk/lineup/index.asp for full line up
Don't know of any metal gigs at the regular haunts like Rock City in Nottingham at the moment.

It's Monsters Of Rock revived a few yrs ago, but it's called Download because when it started you got a code or something with your ticket allowing you to download special features and stuff to do with the festival. Or so I'm told.

You should definitely go to Download if that's the kinda stuff you like- www.downloadfestival.co.uk is the website and some of the bands you mentioned are playing (Metallica and Arch Enemy on the 10th) plus lots more, obviously.
Weekend + Camping is sold out, but just weekend (no camping) and day tickets are still available
Gonna be a great weekend

I was going to say Download too

there are still tickets left for the Friday and Sunday (Sat sold out) and the weekend only tickets, so if you can drive or get a lift you could still see every day...

it's going to be a f**king awesome weekend
