The BBC DVD of the three Wallace & Gromit films won't play on my Wharefdale 750. The disc refuses to load, although it works fine on my PC's DVD player.

Is this another Wharefdale problem to go with Jaws, Gladiator, LA Confidential, etc?

I have had problems with disc as well. My DVD player is a Grundig GV210A and I have exactly the same problem as you. In addition it crashes the DVD player on my Compaq Presario PC everytime I press Play although I can load the bundled software OK.
I feel it may be a dodgy disc design and have sent it back to Amazon for a refund/replacement (except they have lost the disc after receipt, haven't they!!!!)
Can anyone else in the know help us?

Yeah it was the item featured on Watchdog. Well I guess you can see why some DVD players are cheaper, they likely are a more basic design and aren't so flexible in what they do, but I expect a fix will appear soon. I think it's the DVD disc makers that are to blame though, as they keep extending the features (and the original standard) of DVD. It seems a bit daft really, making a standard then not sticking to it. All these so called features added only seem to make more trouble. It's about time they got their act together, as it would save them money in not having to repress the DVD once it's found to be troublesome.

Have a look at http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk for Wharfedale's response to the Watchdog programme and items on Wallace and Gromit and other "dodgy" discs.
