Doctor Who - Hit single from 1985!
Markjuk

Does anyone remember this classic song from 1985 when Doctor Who was "axed" by Michael Grade. Featuring the vocals of Colin Baker and various others.

Remember this from 1985?

It was recorded in 1985 by a group of "celebrities" of the time including Colin Baker, Nicholas Courtney, Sally Thomsett, Faith Brown, Han Zimmer (From Buggles), Hot Gossip, Bobby G (From Bucks Fizz), some people from Ultravox and Matt Bianco. The aim was to prevent the "axe" of Doctor Who in 1985. It must of suceeded as DW returned in late 1986 after a "rest" of 18 months. This song was famously banned by Radio1 as being "unitelligable"

Thanks for posting this, but isn't it total rubbish!? I've never heard it before - I don't feel as if I missed out. What a terrible shame someone did this to a legend. Let it fade into obscurity now I say...!

As I can understand it, I guess R1 may have just have used that as an excuse for banning it because it's poo. They couldn't say the real reason because they didn't usually ban things for being poo...

I'm surprised this didn't go on TOTP at the time!

Would rather chop my ears off with a blunt instrument than listen to that again...once was more than enough.

I have a copy of this on 45 and it only ever got played once in my house - the day I bought it (all those years ago) and never again.

Just to point out; IIRC this most certainly was NOT a hit record.

I’ve still got a funked up version of the dr who theme by ‘Mandkind’ from the early eighties. I prefer the b side though.
