and both departures are rather welcome ! One, or should that be 2, in the eye for the wooden school of acting.
I think there is a link to what so perfect said, eastenders wanted Tamsin Outhwaite out because her contract was too expensive and I think it was the same with Tracy Shaw as they were getting pay rises but other actors were having to take pay cuts to compensate which was causing friction.

I also believe that both actresses have hugely inflated egos - they think that they are such massively talented stars, with millions of loyal fans, with zillions of opportunities just round the corner etc
There will be some opportunities but then they will both have a rather unpleasant crash landing when they realise that their fame and success stems from the fact that they appeared in very popular shows and not because they are hugely talented or greatly loved by the viewing public for being anything else other than their soap character.
