I have just purchased this player as a present for a friend. I now it is cheap (the reason I bought it), but what do people think of it? I know it has won some awards so it cant be too bad can it?

I have heard that it will play region 1 disks also. Is this true?

By the way, it only cost £139 from ToysRus. Not a bad price even if it is a cheap player.

Thanks for your help

I saw one in a customers house while delivering a new TV set. It worked ok I guess, apart from some misleading instructions in the book regarding menu navigation. BUT when a DVD was inserted, it spun very fast and made some loud noises! I turned it off and started again and it worked then. The machine is a bit noisy in normal use, ( not that uncommon I guess for low cost stuff) If you really can't afford something better then it's better than nothing. Don't expect it too last that long however, but at the price, who cares!?

I have this machine and generally its a decent enought player for the dosh.
It IS region free out of the box but does NOT play discs with RCE though.
Does have a bit of a noisy loading mechanism from time to time but apart from that its sound.

Thanks Gizmo

Do you have any R1 DVD's? If so, can you recommend a place to buy them from?

Thanks again

James

http://www.dc-dvd.co.uk is pretty good. Quick delivery times and reasonably cheap prices.
