Playing R1 discs on PC
I have just recently bought a r1 dvd and it does not play on my toshiba SD210-e (even with some crappy theory that if i press 'Memory' '1' 'Play' it would play) So I put it on my dads laptop and just my luck, the region of the drive can be changed 5 times and there is one time left, so I am not changing it to region 1 from 2 cus it will stay there wont it?
Will dvd genie work on the laptop. The drive is a Toshiba SD-C2102, Ver No. 008, ROM ver 1139. I hope this makes any sence to you. Please can someone help me. PS what are the risks involved in trying to change the region number? Thankyou, DNZ711 |

Yes it will lock if you change it to region 1 again...
Yes DVDGenie will work - it fools the hardware count on the DVDRom - a better solution would be to flash the firmware on the DVDRom to RPC-1 (Region Protection Codec 1 which means no region changes basically) You can get most of these firmwares from http://perso.club-internet.fr/farzeno/firmware/ Just make sure you read ALL the instructions provided with the file ![]() Then use DVDGenie just to be on the safe side - this is simply because programs like WinDVD or PowerDVD also have a count system built into them which is a bugger to find in the registry and change back to 0 |
