Hi there

I've just bought a new Pioneer 530H-s and whilst trying to set it up etc, I've now got a message that says "HRD ERR" and on screen says "The hard disk drive information is incorrect"....
It won't tune now (it freezes and I have to unplug the machine).... I've tried the standby+stop button thing and it doesn't do anything.
Anyone have any ideas?

I think I may need to re-format my hard drive - any ideas on that?!?

That does sound like a hard drive formatting issue,but if the machine is new then you should not be doing that just yet.
It is faulty and needs replacing.
If its not a simple matter of returning to the shop,check out the manual on the reformat procedure(IIRC it could take hours).
Then see if it works ok,maybe just a HDD glitch.
But if its not 100% perfect after reformat,then return it

the problem is I can't find the method of reformatting the hard drive in the manual at all.... any ideas?

Try the disc menu (where you initialise DVDs), if it's in the same place as the 720 'initialise HDD' will have appeared at the bottom of the list.

When my 720 drive played up pressing this resulted in an instantaneous reset, I assume it just wipes the file allocation table rather than actually formats the drive.
