i just staretd swearing at her and she just didnt know what hit her asking for an apology and i told her to f off

Ok... that was a bit harsh. You could have just said you are not interested or tell them not to call you back instead of wasting 40 minutes of your own time and their's.

Did you really get that much satisfaction from abusing that woman that you had to come here and brag about it?

Sad...

How? The big red button on your phone has a purpose you know.

The poor woman was just doing her job, the fact that she has to put up with any form of abuse is really unacceptable - no matter where she was calling from (It could have been Bristol or Glasgow for all you know). Its not big, its not funny and it certainly isn't clever.

Forced you to listen? That is the funniest thing I have heard for a long while! How did she manage to do that?

You do know that you can hang up the phone...

and would you have done the same if the call originated from wales, newcastle, or anywhere else... what you did there was equivalent to racist and bullying... am sure you and your imaginary friends are having a good laugh about it..

Agreed. I've worked in them too; some people go out of their way to be abusive... you have to remember there is a person on the end and if you can just politely say no thanks and then put the phone down, rather than going on a racial tirade.

As long as you are pleased and proud and it makes you feel a big man then that's the main thing.

While I'm always an advocate of politeness, you have to remember these people are not customer service, they're outbound sales. They don't care about helping you, they want your money - nothing else - and in some occasions are more than happy to defraud you & lie to you in order to get it.

My other half got a call yesterday from an Indian Call Centre Stating they were calling from "3G The Company" and asked for him to confirm his details so he could get an upgrade.

Obviously a con to be duped into taking a 2nd contract and to see it as new. When he said to them "Well, if you're actually three, perhaps you can have a look at the system and just confirm the tariff I change to a few months ago". They couldn't do that. He also said "If you're actually three, you wont mind if I call back you on 333 - and no other number - in order to confirm what you're offering me. I'll call straight back now, Goodbye". As he hung up, the phone went again and the same person had called back just to say;

"You'll never get an upgrade ever again" and hung up!

Simple fact of the matter is you should be hanging up if you are not interested and not swearing at anyone. Resorting to swearing shows a lack of intellect and the inability to get your point across any other way.

No one likes these calls and that is the reason why we have the hangup, release or red call terminate buttons.

agreed. if someone doesn't like something they shouldnt use it unless they need to its pathetic. Did he expect us all to go "oh wicked nice one"

No offence but if your partner or anyone is stupid enough to give details on an inbound call then tough luck.

Not really,
i exxagerated abit by saying "swearing",
she asked me for my name and i gave her a fake one but she clocked clocked on cos it took so long,
she started cussing me and i cussed her back,

im not the sort of person to hang up the phone,

No if you read the original post hardtarget admits it was him that kept the call going; deliberately in fact.

Anyway apparently now he did not swear at the caller; so that's good.

I dunno why people complain so much about Indian call centres? Anyone I've dealt with seems to understand me completley and can speak better English than alot of people I know. Just because they speak with an accent, don't assume they're not going to understand you
hardtarget
25-05-2006
but the accent does sound abit sarcastic though,
imagine this in a indian accent;

hardtarget:hello
ccentre:hello sir blah blah i would like to...(i knew straightaway it was an advert)
hardtarget:sorry not interested
ccentre:how could you not be interested if i did not say anything(this is what set me off in the first place cos it did sound like she was being sort of clever)
hardtarget:ur gonna tell me about a phone yeah?
centre: yes sir blah blah orange blah vodafone,blah,o2,blah,tmobileblah,
then after a few minutes asks me for a mates name,
i gave a her a fake one, then she asked mine i gave her a fake one
ccentre:sir why are you lying blah why did u take so long?
hardtarget:i dont want to give u my name!!

then she said ok bye..

p.s blah stands for what i dont remember

Im actually pretty appalled by the way ur trying to justify thinking someone`s accent is funny or sarcastic...fair enough u don`t want their product, and yes they work to dodgy scripts which make things difficult for them and us...

I just think u`ve done very little to help your matter backtracking on comments u`ve made, and on top you have a pop at other ds memebers who question the validity of your comments

for the record i highly doubt an indian call centre member from any company would ask you if u speak hindi or urdu, as under terms and conditions of telephoning the uk at least, under current laws governing the recording of telelphone calls, that seller would be at the very least breaking the terms of his / her employment as technically they could be telling you anything through communicating through another language.

On top of that, if u made any sort of sarcastic comments about someone`s accent all it proves is what a sad little existence u have.

I know u will be back on and having a pop, the difference is, unlike that call centre agent who u can put the phone down on after abusing her, not many people on this forum or in society in general will stand by quietly and listen to your attempts to get a kick from such childish behaviour.

By backtracking on his original description it seems to me hardtarget has accepted that his original comments where not getting the approval he thought they would on here.
The brave thing for hardtarget to do would be to go all the way and admit they where thoughtless and out of line.

what I dont like is that companies are paying Indian operator 3rd world wages, but yet continue to charge paying customers full UK charges - that is not fare.

If companies are going to outsource to foreign companies and neglect their Customer Service, whether that be through poor communication or less training, then we in the UK should not be paying full UK prices
