Hi Matt,

The RDS is on the DART line which goes right down to Bray in Co. Wicklow (about 30 mins away) so if you have no luck getting a hotel in Dublin, there are loads of B&Bs/cheap hotels in Bray which might be available! Robbie & Guns & Roses are playing in Dublin the same weekend so that's probably why all the hotels are booked out! If u want to have a look at a map of the DART go to www.dart.ie and u can see all the stops and maybe try for accomodation nearby. The RDS is nearest to the Landsdowne Road stop. Hope this helps! Enjoy the concert

My mates insisting we stop on sunday night.. even though we have to be at the airport for 4am on monday morning.. im trying to tell him that theres no point paying for a hotel. by the time we get out of gig and find a taxi!

4am?! Definitely not worth paying for a hotel that night....especially if u do get accomodation somewhere like Bray as it'll cost u an absolute fortune for a taxi to the airport at that hour!! There is a coach that goes to the airport every 15 minutes which actually has a stop right next to the RDS (Simmonscourt Rd). As far as I can remember the last one is at 11.30pm so it could be handy (www.aircoach.ie). Otherwise just get a taxi into town & there's loads of other buses that go to the airport - another site for u - www.dublinbus.ie. If u dont have much luggage with you I reckon your best bet is to head for a bus out to the airport when the gig is finished to save u all the hassle. At least u wont have that long to wait in the airport if u need to be there for 4am & there's comfyish chairs in the arrivals hall!

I'm going to Guns N' Roses and Metallica over the one weekend and when I checked online for hostel and B&B accomodation all the websites said they were totally booked up. So, I just rang the places directly and asked and was accomodated fine. If you are checking websites to find out availability, don't trust them. Ring the hostel and speak to a person who will definetly confirm availability for you.

Then again, you have Robbie Williams, Guns N' Roses and Metallica all playing over the same weekend in Dublin, you really shouldn't have left it this late to get accomodation! (Although I'm not one to talk, I only booked mine 3 weeks ago )

I can picture Dublin on that weekend, a sea of long hair, Guns N' Roses and Metallica t-shirts, with the odd Robbie one thrown in for good measure!

Great weekend, Metallica were brilliant. Dublin was packed and our hostel was really good. Guns N' Roses was a bit of a let down, but it was still a great weekend. Can't believe thats the concerts over until next year. Might go to Iron Maiden in October in The Point to keep me going!

I saw Metallica on June 10th (@ Donington, not Dublin.)

They were unbelievably good - did they do the Master of Puppets tribute in Dublin as well? Goosebumps people!! as was, well, the fact they played Unforgiven.

Just read on a website that one of the band members is quite ill & that's why they pulled out. I'm still a newbie on this so not sure of the protocol of copy & paste but the article is on www.fm104.ie celebrity news bit

Re: KoRn - the lead singer Jonathan Davies wasn't at Download either, he was really quite ill in hospital - Try www.korn.com for an update, it was something to do his platelet count being 5 instead of 150...so yeah...not good. Apparently he's on the mend though, so that's good!

(Kinda on-topic, I hope. Sorry mods if it isn't!)
