Can anyone recommend or not recommend it,found it at very good prices, seen good reviews and looks a lovely set? ideally id like the pioneer 436 xde but at more then a grand cheaper this could be a viable option??

It is a very good set but is Panasonics budget model - the 600 is their flagship

The 600 has a few extra tricks and better sound... I am not certain if there is any difference in actuall picture quality - they both use the same screen but I am uncertain if the processer is the same or not.

i spoke with panasonic today and the difference isnt that great,on the 600 model there is alot more to the sound system which if u have a home cinmea set up aint much use, theres minor add ons on the 600 to do with dig cams etc..and apparently the screens are a little bit different but they said they couldnt say if it was better or not.so unless you gonna use the lil extras and the speaker system your better off saving couple hundred quid on the px60!

Hi,

I have one now for around 2 weeks and the picture is stunning!
Freeview is exellent.. so good in fact that I'm going to stop my subscription to sky, the picture on sky is poor (Yes I have RGB selected).

DVDs are a Joy to see even in SD.. I would recomend it.

Can you elaborate on your point bout the sky being poor?Surely sky is a digital service and shouldnt be affected??
anyone else have this problem??

There is NO difference between the picture on the PX60 and the PX600 it is exactly the same.

The main difference is in the speakers (which i assure you are rocking on the PX60 anyway) the styling.

I also think the PX600 has things like Picture in Picture etc.

But i can assure you the image processing chip and the display is exactly the same.

The sky service is no better or worse... the problem is that skys quality is not great... on a normal set the general picture isnt that great either so no problem. Put a compressed signal through a great screen and you then start seeing its flaws

Are you basically saying that if you take away Sky then all you got is Sky hd or analogue? Surely a Sky signal is likely to be better then a freeview signal??the whole country is going digital soon enough and tv screens are gettin bigger so surely thatd mean everyone getting probs?

The Sky vs Freeview issue on this Panasonic TV is almost certainly related to the feed method!!!!!!!!!!

The onboard Freeview receiver is well matched to the sets scaling/ enhancing circuitry and does certainly produce fine SD pictures.
Sky or Freeview via a scart/RGB feed will certainly NOT look as good.
Sky HD will be fed via the HDMI input and should be better than all the others for resolution.
DVD via a good upscaling player with an HDMI input should lie somewhere between the on-board Freeview and Sky HD in quality!!

DVD (particularly upscaled) should be better than the on board freeview - yes the onboard freeview has been intentionally tuned to the screen however you can only do so much with tuning and the much better "signal" from a dvd over broadcast digital will outweigh this.

This TV has 1024x 768 pixel count - is that odd or bad for a widescreen TV?

No - it uses rectangular pixels so widescreen is fine. However when I connected a laptop, (to check for dead pixels) Windows desktop looked stretched.
