I've never bought a Plasma before & don't have the money but something tells me £1000 is cheap for this 42".

At Aldi next week (1st June) they are selling a 42" HDTV Ready Plasma for £999, it's a Tevion.

Just thought I'd let you lot know, but if I'm wrong about this being cheap let me know.

Sorry if the my last post was a bit off hand.
The plasma is not from the worlds leading manufacturer. if it was it would be called a panasonic or pioneer. All HD ready sets must have a hdmi (that support hdcp) socket and component conections.
Why do you need 5 audio inputs into a tv?
thE fact it has 10000.1 contrast ratio mean nothing unless it has adecent picture processor to match.
Please do not buy these cheep sets on spec alone. Look at them, listen to them in the flesh and compare them to a proper brand name set before you buy it on a value for money basis. A lot of the time they are just low quality sets. Not good value for money.

Tevion does not have a good rep especially with their last Plasma and LCD models that Aldi offered around a year ago.
However as skinj says judge them on their merits, you are buying cheap so don't expect anything close to real performance but on the other hand Aldi have a very good returns policy.
You'll find plenty of Tevion threads on the AVForums.

Ive enquired abot this plasma set from Aldi tech support and they inform me the the set is made by Samsug - Im also thinking of buying one - to the buffs out there does - made by Samsung make any differrrence, by the way Aldi give a 3 year money back garantee/warrantee.

How many scart are required for connectivity - this set I'm told has 2

Samsung are a huge corporation but it's really impossible to say if the "glass" used in this Tevion Plasma is any good not only that the electronics that control the system is where huge costs savings are made and may have just as much input on the final picture as the glass itself.

Like I said good warranty from Aldi but don't expect them to sell major brand products

Connections will depend on what you require.
A couple of scarts for a Sat/Cable/Freeview box and a VCR/DVD and then the digital connections for potential HD sources.

That's all that really counts.
If you are happy with what you have bought at the price asked then what does someone elses opinion matter

No wonder there is so much debt about when televisions are so expensive.

I do not know anyone who can afford to buy one in my town.
