I've recently got a Sony Bravia 32" for £998 from empire direct. There's a newer model out already, but can't fault this one. It's a KDL-S32A12U.

Stay away from the Philips. They seem to have decided to chase prices rather than make a quality product like they did 5-6 years ago.
We had noticed a huge jump in the unreliability of philips products before stopped selling (because of that reason) a few months ago.
The Panasonics are more expensive but so far (over the last 5 years on LCd and 20 for crt)the reliability has been fantastic and the picture is cracking too.
Samsung is ok, offers value for money. Hitachi is a weird company, they seem to make productsthat are either almost very good or almost very poor without the wow factor in either section!
JVC are also well worth looking at. The new models seem to be almost as good as the Panasonics.

I was watching a Panasonic over the weekend, and the picture and sound were excellent. You will struggle to get a 32" Panasonic for less than £1000 though.

Have a look at the Toshiba 32WLT66 as it has won many awards. Cut and paste this link http://www.home-entertainment.toshiba.co.uk/consumer/products.nsf/awards?openview&restricttocategory=<!--lcdplasma-->&section=support

Only £879 from http://www.hispek.com/

I haven't ordered from them though, so I can't comment on their service.

Whatever you buy, make sure it has 2 hdmi inputs, or you will regret it later.
