I'm looking for a new LCD screen, but am keen to get one with a built digi channels, either sky or freeview.

I've never seen one with it all built in. Or is it just as eay to get another box?

There are plenty of TVs that are HD Ready with Freeview (remembering the Freeview tuner will not, and never will, give you HD). 42" LCDs seem to be rare - I've seen 40s and 46s, but 42 seems to be only plasma. In 40" there's Samsung and Sony models which are HD Ready with Freeview.

Not sure where you are looking but they almost all do - though they will be outdated in a number of years and to me it is just another thing to go wrong.

How so? Even with the advent of HD on DTT, which by common consensus seems to be many years off as yet, SD transmissions wouldn't be switched off at this point. Any integrated DTT tuner based on the current system will be "cutting edge", as far as DTT is concerned, for many years to come.

There is a price premium for integrated DTT tuners and if that is a reason for not buying TVs or DVD recorders with them then fair enough. Otherwise I wouldn't consider not buying one with DTT. The chances are they will still be going at the switch off and in the meanitime you get the better quality and wider programme choice (all those shopping channels! ) with the extra hassle of additoinal boxes and cables. The other reason for not getting it now of course is if you cannot receive it!

As you say, everything is speculation and therefore my "number of years" is as correct as any other speculation but really you have taken it out of context. To me personally, I have Sky so no need for freeview and so 1) dont want to pay for a feature I will not use and 2) the more bells and whistles you have the more things there are to go wrong with it. Combine the 3 and you get to my opinion that it isnt worth having.... but then I would buy a screen rather than a TV
