I currently have v1.08, but does anyone know if there is a way of getting hold of the v1.11 software for the DMR-ES20D? I don't imagine there will be any repeats of it now, as it's been around for a while. I've heard it fixes certain aspect ratio problems, which I think might help me because I have a 4:3 TV.

I found an old thread on this topic, and a few people said it made their machines worse, either a lot slower or they couldn't even record from the EPG any more. Can anyone with v1.11 confirm whether it's worth the update from 1.08 or 1.11 please?

And if it is, where can I get it from?!

I can't help, but I was hoping they might do a re-broadcast at some point. The machine I bought in February has v1.06 still.

Still got 1.06 meself and bought it two weeks ago!

I also have a 4:3 TV and the upgrade did nothing for the aspect ratio problems. I have noticed no difference either in performance or functionality. I wouldn't worry about having 1.11.

OK, thanks for the info. I won't bother then. If it fixed the 'no programme info in the EPG', then I'd be dowloading it like a shot, but I know it doesn't....

Well, I've downloaded v1.13 for my DMR-ES20D, and..... no noticeable differences. Still no programme info in the EPG (what a surprise).

Anyone got any ideas what's been updated/fixed?

What no programme info? check the settings go to Functions etc. and check if EPG download in Standby is enabled, my ES20D seems to keep the EPG updated even when it's left in Timer mode rather than Standby.

Note that if you switch off the power for any reason ALL EPG data is lost.

One irritation I have found with the WS20D is it doesn't like Memorex DVD-RW's or Panasonic DVD-RAM discs!

Sorry, I meant there's no programme synopsis when you press the 'i' button in the EPG (apart from on programmes that are currently showing). Mine also populates the EPG with the programme names without problems. Just wish I could read about them in advance!

I was hoping the new v1.13 would fix that, but it doesn't. I haven't checked to see if it fixes any of the aspect ratio problems people have been talking about - but at first glance there are no noticeable differences to even my old v1.08.

I think I'll still be sticking to my Sky box for general TV viewing!

I see what you mean now, that would be a useful feature! I too updated from 1.08 to 1.13 yesterday, as yet I can't see any difference.
